Wanted to try this place based on good reviews and supporting local small eateries. We had a chicken shishlik and my falafel sandwich. The chicken shishlik was decent enough and the falafel sandwich was described to me as "not the best I've had but okay". But in the current state of things, I can't in good conscience recommend. While the food is passably good, what isn't is the cost and quantity for that. These were small pita sandwiches that would, at best, be a light lunch but the falafel clocks in at $10 and the shishlik came in at an eye watering $17. You could have gotten an entire pizza from a good place for that price. Here, you get something about the size of a Big Mac at nearly 4x the cost of entry. It's just not acceptable at that cost of entry.
Edit - I would buy the response from the owner here if I couldn't get a bowl of noodles from a shop running on the same "imported fine dining" paradigm for a dollar less than a chicken sandwich here but also get a larger quantity of food. So either your import/exporter is ripping you off or you're...
Read moreThe food was excellent here. Fresh, healthy, and hit my pregnancy craving the right way! It’s hard to find vegan food that’s not a chemical packed vegan burger/ meat substitute, but here I can get good priced, quality, natural food when I don’t feel like cooking. The fries, falafel and Salatim sandwich are my favorite things here. The salads that’s go in the sandwiches are amazing. I had to take a star off for the bratty cashier that took my order when I was here last. She looked bored, irritated and said “uh-huh” or “yea” after every word that I said when I was ordering my salatim sandwich, as if to be like “yea ok hurry up” which threw me off a little. She was one “uh huh” away from me giving her the same sass she was giving me right back. She had brown wavy/ curly looking hair and was very young looking. She left shortly after we were finished eating so I guess she was itching to leave, but that’s no reason to be rude to a customer who’s just trying to clarify their order/ order correctly. I believe the owner/ one of the owners was there, and she...
Read moreThe good : ordered a chicken shawarma platter which comes with 4 sides, a bed of rice and a pita. The food was tasty, well spiced and of generous portions, though I could have used more sauce for the chicken.
The bad: I paid 26 bucks for lunch. This is essentially chicken over rice you can get anywhere for 10 bucks , 12 if you splurge and go to a dine in place and get a soda. Menu is confusing and needs explaining from staff as to what exactly comes with what. The music is so loud I had to ask them to repeat their responses several times and chose to eat in my car instead of dine in. A plate of Chicken/rice/tomatoes and cucumber salad/chickpeas and some carrots / pickled veg.- for 26 bucks with tax. There is no reason this should be so expensive. All of these items I can get in just as generous portions from many other locations in Whitestone. My advice, cut back on your portions / sides and offer a lunch menu that's more affordable. You tout giving 10 percent to charity. That's nice, but why not give it back to your...
