The food I have tasted on two visits was OK. But this establishment doesn't offer even a small piece of bread before your food arrives.
even when asked, they refused to bring a roll out. They simply said "we don't give bread"
The place was completely empty both times we went.
its no wonder. This restaurant does nothing to make customers feel valued, and satisfied.
The Early bird special portions were small, and the microscopic Tacos (taco special) were shameful.
smallest tacos I've ever been served. Nothing but the meat and a few chopped onions.....the driest taco i've ever had.
When i mentioned this to the server, rather than try to reemedy this, he just said that the regular menu tacos (for a few dollars more come with all of the ingredients like salsa, & sour cream.
imagine if you buy a slice of regular pizza or a hero and get it without tomato sauce because its on a SPECIAL price (3.00 each) A 3.00 Taco needs some moisture and cannot be served DRY!!!
couldn't they have brought out a small dish of Salsa (costing pennies) or a dab of sour cream to help the dry problem? they did not. and would not. because they don't have a proper attitude of valuing customers right and giving them a reason to come back.
The most important point to this share, is that they don't bend one degree for customers. They're rigid, non customer oriented and frankly we have too many other places that would go the extra simple step, to make a customer's experience more favorable.
The days of eating inside the Cliftonville in a cheerful, populated Italian food restaurant are GONE. It was once a respected, loved neighborhood favorite.
If this current establishment doesn't start to step up their game and treat customers with more respect soon, I don't see how they will be able to stay open.
its a special location with a deep history...seeing this place now is sad and I pray they will modify their attitude towards customers who enter the place looking for just a shred of appreciation for choosing Tavern on 10th over many other nearby...
Read moreSince Tavern on 10th opened, we've visited about half a dozen times. Although we live on Long Island, I grew up in Whitestone, and wanted to support what used to be the Clinton Inn. However, after our most recent experience, we won't be returning. We both ordered the rib dinner and immediately noticed a price difference between the outdoor barbecue menu and the indoor menu. But it was too humid to eat outdoors, so we were okay with the higher price. We asked our server, Carlos, if dinner included cornbread, as it did on the barbecue menu. He informed us that it did not come with the meal but could be ordered for an additional charge. We decided to forgo the cornbread. Almost immediately, he returned to our table and offered to bring us one piece of cornbread to share. I inquired if there would be a charge for it, and he confirmed that it would be complimentary. We both thanked him for his courtesy. However, when the check arrived, we noticed a charge for the cornbread. We asked Carlos about this, and he replied curtly, "You ordered something, so we charge for it." We gently reminded him that he offered it at no charge. He denied that, leaving us to feel disrespected as customers, but he begrudgingly removed the charge. We paid and left a more than fair gratuity (despite his baffling behavior). Yet, as we left, Carlos's scowl was unmistakable, and there was no thank you or good night.
While the food has generally been good, this experience is a reminder that a server's behavior can significantly...
Read moreI had the WILDEST experience here last night, y'all.
Food: tasty! Got the cheese steak and my fiancé got the cordon bleu. Both were enjoyable.
Drinks: mediocre. I don't know what kind of vodka was in my Moscow Mule but my face turned red and my neck started itching, which has never happened before, so that was...great.
Service: this is where the experience took a turn. when our server took our order, I pointed to what I wanted on the menu as I ordered it (this is important later). They bring out the non-sandwich version of what I want. I say "oh, I actually ordered the sandwich/cheesesteak version of this." Our server comes back to me a few minutes later, clearly annoyed, saying "show me where you pointed on the menu because this is what you ordered." First of all, no it was not. Second of all, even if I ordered incorrectly (I didn't), coming in hot and trying to tell me I'm wrong out of the gate is a WILD choice, which I say as someone who was a server for 5 years. I pointed in exactly the same place I did the first time I ordered and then I got my sandwich shortly. And very apologetically. Either way, super weird.
Anyway, we won't be back 🤷♀️ good onion...
