Im a big fan of Johns. The sandwhiches are worth their pricing. Hope they stay in similar price point because this is a crucial point in why they are patronized so well. I should know, Im a community consumer affairs director.
These sanwhiches are made with care and class and I always choose them over any other. They have been responsive to issues in the past. For example they used to hate grubhub and even put a slip on their bags to ask us not to order thru them. This was seen as highly inappropriate to folks as it came off disrespectful and petty especially because noone forced them into the free advertisement on grubhub. They stopped this.
Also their reps would always get orders wrong over the phone, especially toppings and they wondered why we wanted it on grubhub where it was recorded and typed by us. However now they have an intelligent and patient woman answering the phone she does a much better job than the guys here did! Never wrong!
Only thing they need to watch out for now is consistency. Sometimes sandwhiches are filled sometimes all you taste is bread. I cant afford that when Im bringing my clients food from Johns and bragging about them only to find it wasnt what I said. Once or twice is once or twice too many.
Also the jip with the cheese lost them a customer last January. A neighborhood local. Come on youre not losing money on the cheese guys just put an amount of cheese in that doesnt make people want to give it back to you and make their own sandwhich. Extra cheese should not be 3 or 4 slices for an extra 1.50 on top of the 1.50 for cheese in the first place. Thats a third or quarter of the total price. Depending. Big Turn off.
Other than that this place makes Lionis look worthless! The food here you can trust and you can honor. It is a gem. Thank guys!
Oh and ps. Tried the godfather hero recently And Ive never tasted such a carefully crafted beautiful piece of...
Read moreI work close to John’s deli, and since I started working in Brooklyn we have ordered from Johns deli 5-6 times a week for lunch, usually for 3-5 people depending on the day. On Saturdays, we order for the entire department. Do the math... that’s hundreds of orders we placed between May 2020 to October 2020. So far so good, otherwise we wouldn’t order almost daily.
We had a problem today where a new server, “Elrika F” took my order and instead of the pretzel hero, gave me the Italian hero.
When I called to ask how they wanted to handle the problem, the first person Elrika told me I messed up my order and that it was my fault. This is on a sandwich I order almost daily, where she was the person who was new, not me. And it’s not even a complicated order, just an ari gold on a pretzel hero.
A second person (not a manager) got on the phone and said they can send a new one made the correct way and would come exchange the old sandwich.
I asked what they planned to do with the wrong sandwich and they said nothing they just need to get it as per the bosses rules.
The whole time I’m thinking you’re just gonna throw this out. And I didn’t even want a new one because by the time they bring it my lunch time is over and I’m back to working. I can’t have lunch drag on for 2 hours+.
It’s all about how we fix problems when they occur and Johns deli failed to do so in this instance. Not only did they blame the customer who has ordered hundreds of times (no exaggeration), they almost don’t trust that they messed up the sandwich and needed it...
Read moreJohn's deli is nowhere near what it used to be. Sadly another victim of the doordash culture. The bread for the sandwiches is still top notch however the ingredients have fallen to the wayside..... We were visiting the old neighborhood over the course of a week we ate here twice because this place has had such a special spot through my life and wanted it to be what it used to be.... The 1st visit on this trip we waited 20 minutes for our order although there was no line and no one in the restaurant. The 1st visit on this trip we waited 20 minutes for our order although there was no line and no one in the restaurant When I asked what was taking so long they said they had a ton of online orders ahead of me.....Just as I was asking myself if I was overreacting a woman came barging through the door and through her sandwich over the counter screaming at the top of her lungs because her chicken was raw..... I took a look at the sandwich when staff opened and I can see why she was so upset. Not sure who is managing this place these days or who the owner is but what a shame that you have let a neighborhood jewel decline to where it stands now. I ordered my favorite sandwich the rocky balboa - the chicken was done however it was so oily and looked like it had been fried the day before also was beaten so thin it looked like all bread crumbs. It's embarrassing when you bring friends to a place you have raved about for decades and they say that the sandwich counter in grocery chain is better - We'll...
