Amalfi has been our favorite for many years. I recommend them to everyone. I got there today, after sitting in traffic for three hours on my way home from work, and paid for my order. I even left a 15% tip. I always do. Then I found they had my salad ready, but no one made my pizza. I said, "so, now I have to wait for you to make my pizza." I'm sure my anger was evident. The two guys making pizzas argued with each other about whose fault it was. I had to wait for them to finish their argument and make my pizza.
When my pizza was done, he brought the order to the front counter and just announced the type of pizza I ordered and handed it to me. No "I'm sorry for your wait." I didn't get an apology from the cashier. The waitress walked past me numerous times and just stared at me. At one point, her and the pizza maker looked my way and I think I heard her say "He'll get over it." Whatever she said, her glare was not friendly.
When I got home, the pizza was under-cooked and the chopped salad was wet and mushy from sitting on the counter with hot food for too long.
Is this the way to treat a long time customer? I've had similar situations over the years at other take-out restaurants. At the very least, there's an apology. At another pizza place in Newark, under very similar circumstances, I was given a $5 coupon toward my next order.
Sadly, I'm not sure I'll be back To Amalfi. Maybe my neighbors were right that the quality has gone down since Andy sold it. If you're ever in Western PA, you can stop at Andy's place, Tony's Pizza Cafe, in Sarver, PA and remember better...
Read moreHands down best pizza in Delaware! There is something about the New York Style that sings to pizza lovers across the globe. I've lived in New York for five years and yes, pretty much anywhere you go you can grab a great slice and it's just as amazing as the last one you had down the block on Lexington Ave in the Upper East Side. In this case, Amalfi uses a perfect amount of sauce, cheese and crust that begs you to eat another after your first slice. The tomato sauce in particular is the best component. The place is almost always busy and there is a reason for it. Therefore, my only criticism is that sometimes if you order on a weekend the cooks don't put enough sauce on the pie. Maybe they run low during the end of the work week or they are just so tired of all the activity they don't step up. Go at an off hour (Tuesday or Thursday night) and the pie is perfect. If the garlic knots were made fresh every morning the place would become an instant franchise.
Bottom line: if you're looking for a great NYC style slice without driving 2 & 1/2 hours North, look no further. Cafe Napoli on Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington comes in second place, followed by Dom's Pizzeria in Newport in a close third. Note: the restaurant itself doesn't have enough seating and needs to expand due to...
Read moreThere customer service is horrible. On a busy Friday, the person taking the order felt the need to rush me when trying to figure out the best gourmet pizza to get.
I called back to speak to the manager, Antonio, who couldn’t help but give me a discount. Prior to canceling my order, I decided to give it one last chance.
Once I got there, low and behold the person who took my order over the phone was present.
I asked to speak to the manager who told me that he had just left.
I told her that I will need to speak to the next person in charge.
He was then persuaded to come from behind the store, who then gave me a 20 percent discount from 2 large pizza and 12 piece wings.
Once I got home, the wings Were not entirely cooked all the way.
I refuse to come back here for the experience I just went through. Being a customer service rep in the active duty military, I am disgusted by how so many reviews take pride in this place.
They really need to consider changing out their staff, especially since the you lady does not know the true meaning of customer...
