The last time I was, the person who was slicing the meat was pulling out a wet rag from a bucket on the table and started to wipe down the area with his gloves on then after he finished started making sandwiches and didn't even change his gloves . So I told the person taking orders to tell him to change his gloves and the person he did and the meat slicer did. So I put my order in and the meat slicer did the same mess again I told the person taking orders to cancel my order , And told him he's doing the same thing again with the rags and not changing his gloves. People are standing there looking at the same stuff I see and not saying a word still ordering. Oh well to each its own.
You don't know what kind of chemicals are in that bucket if any or if that bucket of water has been there since last night with the same dirty water. So that tells me that this person has worked in food service and knows the do's and don't
I know we all take a chance when we eat out and we don't know what happens behind closed doors in a restaurant .. And I've seen some stuff . But to be right in plain sight and to do some stuff like that while making.someone food is not acceptable. Copper should have someone back there with some kind of understanding about the food service business ( serv safe ) certified.
Cooper's sandwiches are not the same anymore it's still the same old ( best product ) pastrami but not the same consistency. I stopped by because I didn't want to drive downtown to get dinner that was a bad choice I had to go somewhere...
Read moreCooper's certainly is not what it once was years ago. My mom and I who have not lived in Newark in over 20 plus years was feeling a little nostalgic remembering those famous Cooper sandwiches with the delicious pastrami piled high on a rye bread perfect amount of seasoning with the Russian dressing and coleslaw. Oh my goodness it used to be so good. The standard and quality of this establishment has gone down tremendously. When we pulled up to the store there crowds of people loitering outside. My mother decided to stay in the car while my father and I went inside this dark little hole in the wall. We stood in line and waited almost 20 to 30 minutes for our sandwiches which was ridiculous since there was only two other people in front of me and three people working behind the counter. My sandwich was not good at all. It was unseasoned, wet which made the bread soggy and difficult to hold together even the Russian dressing and coleslaw was not good. Besides the food not being good be warned that if you go here you will be risking your life. Outside a man beat a woman savagely causing her face to bleeding as police drove by and did nothing. We witnessed drug transactions take place outside and a man came inside putting something down his pants. The lady that's appears to be management allowed the same person to come behind the counter and get alcohol out the cooler. Mind you he just came in off the street . We knew it was time to get out of there. I don't know what's happening to this city. It has...
Read moreI Used to work at the US Postal Service in Kearny and always looked forward too someone in the building to take a big lunch order. THese sandwiches are massive. Other places like Blimpie you get thin slices of meat you can see thru practically and you get stacks of lettuce and tomatoes and you cannot taste the meat. Here the meat is stacked high on your sandwich and believe me you are full all day long. Other places you will be hungry an hour later. Here at Cooper's Deli there is 2 motto. Quality goes in before the quantity goes out. Quantity and Quality goes in the sandwich before the customer walks out the door. Mr Cooper stands behind his business for years. This is one of the last POP and Mom shops still going in America in a land of fast food and fast money you get sandwiches made the old fashion way. In Today's world people are looking for a good sandwich. You can have it your way. Right here. This is the Very best of the Very best. I moved to Pennsylvania recently but when I come to East orange VA Hospital for my visits I always stop by and visit Mr Coopers, The Best Deli in Newark if not New Jersey. Try the Hot Pastrami and Xra cheese and lots of cheese. WOW It's true Love. And the Kids that work there are hard...
