This is my first time going here. A coworker recommended it. I ordered the fried chicken, Mac n cheese, and yams. I also ordered pig feet... Omgoodness it's soooooooo good! Everything is delicious! The pig feet are tender and flavourful. I rated it 4 stars Bc I would have liked one additional piece of chicken. I think a 3pc would've been perfect with this dish! Other than that, I have no complaints. I'm currently still eating it. 🤤🤤🤤
I DO feel like I have to comment on the restaurant itself. Keep an open mind! It has a very old school southern feel. Nothing fancy about it all. Blown away by the food, easily some of the best soulfood in Newark. The oxtails and turkey wings were tender and flavorful. The mac and cheese and yams were perfect. The fried chicken was crispy and well seasoned, and the cabbage was decent as well. I’ll absolutely be back to try other dishes as well as their breakfast. Don’t be discouraged by the location or minimal online presence. This is a no-frills spot beats out a lot of the more overhyped/popular soul food...
