My review is about catering. We do not know the owner or anyone working from this establishment. Although, I gave a 5 star for the atmosphere, I can not actually rate the dining space since we have never eaten there. We are a family that simply loves good food.
I have used 9jabuka to cater very important milestones in my family order the past year. It is the only jollof vendor my partner will accept.
Depending on the number of guests, they have only provided the best of the best! We have ordered pans of jollof, ayamase w/ white rice, nigerian salad, pepper soup, and most recently a cooler of jollof rice. I believe they are reasonably priced for catering. They are always on time for the pick-up and the food is always fresh, tasty, and hot (if applicable). There is a $50 deposit if you need to borrow a cooler like we did. We will continue to...
Read moreI started visiting this restaurant about a year ago after trying every Nigerian restaurant in Newark and surrounding towns. My husband has an eclectic palate and so far most restaurants have been a miss. I bought the banga soup with the catfish head and it was soo good, it broke my heart to share it with my husband. After that I tried the edikidikang soup and it was a hit with my husband. I love the different soups every day..bitterleaf, egusi, vegetable is a hit with him too. We ordered jollof and fried rice for my baby shower. It is my go to for food now. I absolutely love the moi moi and akara. The staff recognize me and are very helpful and efficient. There is a sit down area but I do strictly takeout because I am always running errands. They close at 7pm and not open on weekends and I respect that because the food is...
Read moreI was so excited to try African food for the first time. I ordered Jolof Rice with 3 meats and 2 pieces of fried fish for $34 and let's just say, my entire $34 went into the garbage. The Jolof rice tasted like pure smoke and unflavored-no type of palatable goodness for me to say, Mmm. The fried fish was cold on the inside as well as crispy on the outside and very much not cooked well on the inside. Let's just say, I was rather disappointed trying 9ja foods for the first time, thinking I was going to get a taste of some real, tasty African food. I will not be...
