Jackies Bakery — Restaurant in Newark

I have been buying empandas from this place for over 11 years, when MBNA was downtown Newark. I always purchase the chicken empandas which were my favorite up until recently. The batch of a dozen chicken empandas did not have any chicken in them, it was all dough and completely empty. I immediately called when I got home (traveled from Morris County-25 mins away) let them know and they told me I could come the next day to get a replacement. The next day I called again to confirm that I can pick up the corrected batch. Once I got there, they were extremely rude, yelling, telling me I did not purchase from them, and for the 8 years that he's been working there he never made a mistake. Due to this experience, HORRIBLE customer service, and lying saying they were going to correct their mistake, I do not recommend doing business with them at all. That was the first time I ever had an issue with them and to be 8 months pregnant traveling 25 mins away to be disrespected as a longtime customer, please do not patronize...

You lost a Star because the Cuban bread is great but , a few years back I ordered a coffee to go. I cut the cover a bit to sip the coffee. Suddenly, I feel something hit my lip as I sip. When I uncovered the top a mosquito "The size of a Bumblebee" in the cup. It was so big it wouldn't fit through the opening. I didn't return until recently and the the servers are great and its a great community go to spot. However, last few times the coffee was bitter. I don't mind paying extra for a good cup of Cortado (expresso with a hint of foamed milk ). Bye for now...
