Ounje Alabeke — Restaurant in Newark

🚫🚫After a long day at work and walking several blocks i saw this place and decided to walk in and give the food a try. I ordered okra which came with fufu (which the fufu was made fresh infront of me, thats what the 1 star is for), and let me tell you what, for 22$ I recieved such a small portion of food, I'VE NEVER BEEN SO ANGRY 2 extremely over cooked and hard little pieces of beef and the lining was so tough i had to tgrow it away. the bowl was so shallow with food, it was a waste of plastic and my hard earned money and my time I would NEVER go back here NOR RECOMMEND. I'll continue to go up the block to Burkindi. Better prices and so much food, yes the wait time is there but atleast my time and hard earned money is well spent. There is no way that lady should be serving up that size portion of food for 22$. She was nice and everything but that's a dirty thing to do to people coming into your establishment, you should be ashamed of yourself and that's why your restaurant is empty. Do right by people and they will come back, if not just like me they will walk out that door and never return. I literally found a 3 Oz bowl in my house and put the okra in there (just to show my family what i received and how effed up this place is and I ended up discarding everything without eating it, thats how pissed I was, if there was no meat it just the stew would have fit in a 2oz bowl, im mot exaggerating AT ALL, im extremely honest im my reviews of places that i go to and i really want to warn people of this place. 22$ worth of food fit into a 3oz bowl but you gave it in that big round black bowl for nothing 2 spoons of okra and 3 spoons (when I say spoons i mean THE ONES YOU EAT WITH, NOT RESTAURANT SERVING SPOONS) of sauce THATS WHAT YOU GAVE ME. I told everyone at my job and in my neighborhood and family to stay away from this place, very deceitful. The pictures that they have up is no what you will be getting. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE, FIND ANOTHER SPOT TO EAT AT!... like BURKINDI UP THE BLOCK ON CLINTON AVE PAST THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, IT SITS RIGHT ON THE CORNER....

I’m giving a five star review cus it’s five star or nothing, I tasted her jollof rice and egusi for the first time at a party and it was superb and I said to myself despite the distance from Binghamton NY if we have any event we will be ordering from her. Then I reached out to her about an upcoming event and she did excellently well. Everyone keeps talking about how great the food was. Thank you Ounje...

I called into Ounje Alabeke for a bulk order of Amala-Abula and was seriously impressed! My order was ready in under 30 minutes, and the quality was top-notch. Everyone couldn’t stop raving, there was finger-licking and even bowl-scraping going on with that delicious stew 😆. The portions were generous too.
