Stephanie's Barbecue IV - Portuguese Style B.B.Q. — Restaurant in Newark

I used to come here all the time. After a recent Visit I realized one of the reasons I stopped going so frequently. After spending $40 on two whole trays of food I was given one barbecue sauce. When I asked for more I was given 2. When I asked for more considering all the food I purchased I was told that I would have to pay 0.25 cents per microscopic side of bbq sauce. This is the only Stephanie’s that acts as if the sauce is the secret sauce to life. Won’t be going back. I’d rather travel to the Elizabeth or Nutley location. I should’ve waited to write this review. After eating I discovered the food is gross. The beef ribs are bland and flavorless; not the way that I asked for it to be cooked...well done. The shrimp in garlic sauce with rice and fries tastes like nothing!! No garlic sauce no flavor! I am DONE with this place. A waste of money.. This place is clearly under new management or something. I cook better with my eyes...

Update…I guess I must’ve forgot my previous review because I ordered again (Grubhub) after such a long time. The food was even worse. Not only was the food old tasting and tough, this time the rice was so mushy it was inedible. I really hate to waste food. And the bad part about it is I was ordering for a family member in the hospital and the hospital food was better than the takeout.

Usually pretty good but the ribs I received had barely any meat and were old and tough, hard to chew. The young lady at the counter was such a sweet girl. Maybe it was a one time thing but quality should be important all the time.

Edit: to owner, you may have many people who have a five star experience as you put it, but I did not, and I’ve eaten from there plenty of times as I have grew up in the area. Your food has grown to be disgusting at times because the product isn’t fresh. Don’t downplay it, grow from the critiques and the maybe the food won’t...

I orders food through door dash for my family mostly kids. The food came in about 35 mins topped not that long but once the food arrive I order whole rib combo with was $21 and whole pork rib combo which was $21 and I o my recieved 1 beef rib and half of chicken whole bunch of rice and fries and then when I got the shrimp that they charged me $12 for and it looks nothing like the picture of shrimp they sell the shrimp was small with take at the end like the frozen shrimp you buy from the supermarket and when I called to let them know about my order he hung up I called back he told me he would get his wife so I can speak to her and he hung up again I will never ever order form this place again horrible service oh and the kitchen was burnt so I ended cooking the kids hamburgers horrible experience and...
