----- Update Review 10/10/2023 -----

Since the owner responded to this review, I am giving this business another star. However, the staff standing around the cash register and the $20 subtotal charge for the online ordering still both stand as complaints to me. Again, if these are fixed the next time, you earn the full 5 stars.

----- Original Review 10/04/2023 -----

Okay. I have eaten from this place three times now; on 8/26, 09/04, and 10/01, and there are some pros and cons I have to say about this place.

Pros: There are restaurants down the street, but this place is convenient, as it is close to the beach, if you want to grab a quick bite to eat. The food is not terribly expensive, in my opinion, but it could be cheaper.

There is also some sit down next to the snack bar; however, I like to eat my food on the beach, so I do not really take advantage of that.

Cons: If you are planning on ordering one item to eat for yourself, do not use mobile ordering; it is such a scam. The website requires your subtotal to be a minimum of $20. In the three times I ordered, I ordered Fish & Chips, Chicken Tenders, and either a bottle of water or soda. I find it ridiculous that they are making me buy more just to be able to order online. For instance, on 10/01, I ordered just Chicken Tenders, and I had to add two bottles of water ($3.70 each) just to meet the subtotal requirement. That is so stupid. If you are ordering more food or for multiple people, sure, ordering online is not a problem.

Also, I read some of the reviews in Google and some people mentioned that there is a scheduled time for you to pick up your food, but regardless, they do not prepare your food until you actually arrive. I put that theory to the test, and they are right. My order on 10/01 was scheduled for 4:20 PM, and I was at the beach and deliberately arrived at 4PM. First of all, none of the staff bother to even come over to the pick up counter! Every time I have been there, I wait there and occasionally someone stares at me, but does not even bother to come over to ask if I need help or am picking up an order. The staff are not rude to me, and I am not rude to them, but they just are not paying attention. I understand a day can get slow, but standing around when there are people waiting for an order is unacceptable. As someone studying Hospitality Management, that is really unprofessional to be standing around not doing anything. Not to mention, the line for people ordering at the cash register was almost non existent; there was no line at all during the times I was present. I ended up waiting anywhere from 10-20 minutes for someone just to come over to the pick up counter to tell them that I have arrived, and even when I arrive at the scheduled time, it is another 10-15 minute wait for the food. That is ridiculous and I almost missed the last bus back to town.

Will I be back? I come to Easton Beach quite often and I do get hungry. However, I do expect a little more consistency with the staff. And take that stupid $20 subtotal requirement off! I am giving two stars for the online ordering and staff, but if those two issues are resolved by the next time I order, then you earn the remaining...

Being a foodie, restaurants and great food are the first few things I always look up before traveling somewhere. I saved up Easton's Beach Snack Bar in my list when we finally drove from NYC to Newport this past weekend.

We were allowed early check in at our hotel so we were able to make it a Cliff Walk + beach day right on day 1. After completing that famous walk, we finally headed to the snack bar. Social distancing and masks strictly enforced which is very much appreciated.

Got the twin lobster rolls for almost $18 which came with fries while hubby got the $19+ plain lobster roll with drawn butter. WOW. Expectations met and exceeded! These were both incredibly delicious! The bun was toasted perfectly and still warm, the lobster so fresh and delicious, and the mayo was balanced, not overpowering! The fries were also so good! And I normally don't even eat a lot of fries. What also adds up to the experience is the view of the whole beach. So so worth it.

We loved it so much we decided to go back and make it our last meal before we drove back to NYC. This time though I also wanted to try the clam strips and I will say my only regret is not trying these on day 1 because I loved every bit of it and would have happily indulged in more! I guess there's a reason to come back again...

We live out of state but we love Easton Beach. The snack bar is conveniently located near the beach and the bathroom. We were a little shocked by the prices compared to our usual local seafood spots but it is Newport so I guess that is to be expected. I recommend that if you have lactose intolerance as we do ask for the lobster rolls to be made without butter. We weren't aware that they grilled the buns with real salted butter. Also we did have an issue being double charged by what I can assume was the square app that they use for card payment but the owner promptly got in touch with us and we were able to fix the issue the owner also refunded us one of our food items because we weren't fully satisfied with it. Although our first experience there was not what we had expected we would definitely give them another try. The food that we did receive was cooked well we were just not used to the style of cooking. Next time we go we will try some of the other menu items and will most likely use cash to avoid any...

The Easton’s Beach Snack Bar was a wonderful snack bar based restaurant that offered customers delicious meals ranging from burgers, fries, churros and shrimp and amazing sea side views of Easton’s Beach. In September of 2018, I brought and treated my wife and myself for dinner at the Easton’s Beach Snack Bar during our honeymoon in Newport, Rhode Island. We were warmly welcomed and treated very well by the restaurant’s staff and we found our meals to be well seasoned, tasty and highly delicious!!! I’m definitely sad to learn about the restaurant’s temporary closure. Hopefully and within the near future, the Easton’s Beach Snack Bar will open its doors again and offer guests the same positive experience that my wife and I enjoyed during our visit there!!!

What a surprising gem where we thought we would find a "tourist trap" kind of restaurant. The sans mayo lobster roll was excellent. The lobster was super fresh and skillfully de-shelled to be delicately put together for this lobster roll. The fried clams strip basket was huge and really tasty! I was sad it didn't come with fries but I could barely finish the basket anyway! I was a bit disappointed a regular sized water bottle was $2.75 because that just seemed absolutely absurd but I suppose out of necessity it's what it is. Other than that, we loved eating along the dock next to the beach/ocean. Very beautiful views with a pretty nice lunch!
