Excellent food. Diverse menu. Good service.
An initial review of On Fire Latin Bar & Grill.
The store resides in a strip mall, which is an excellent omen as most great restaurants in America reside in unassuming strip malls of suburbia (IMHO.)
The menu ranges from Central American cuisine heading on up through Mexico and into the USA. The atmosphere is fairly sterile, but clean, and comfortable enough. The bar is small, donāt expect to belly-up. However, said bar is well stocked, and most importantly has draft beer. The serviceā¦. Excellent!
Tonight on, our first visit, we had the chimichanga, a kids burger, Honduran Style Chicken and several frosty cold Bud Lights.
The chimichanga was good; par for the course. Crunchy and very filling, a hefty portion to be sure. The side of refried beans were good, the rice bland (I canāt verify). Iād always recommend ordering off the āspecialsā section of the menu initially, but some like to play it safe. Not me tho!
I canāt review the kids burger and fries but it looked good.
The star of the show was absolutely the Honduran Style Chicken. The dish was superb. Chicken quarters fried (no breading) until that skin has the perfect crunch, yet the meat remains moist. The chicken sits on a bed of starchy plantain slices and topped with a cabbage slaw. Somehow it all comes together into one of the best dishes Ive had in a long while. I recommend this dish.
Itās gonna be hard working through the menu knowing that Honduran chicken is on the menu. Definitely worth...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was expecting good things based upon the reviews when I walked in. I was sorely disappointed.
I will start with the good, the waitress was friendly and attentive.
The bad, nearly everything else.
We asked for a Mai Tai amd the waitress was unfamilar with this popular drink and when we listed it out to help, they adviced they didnt have the ingredients for it.
For a bar not to have any rum, is a tragedy.
Their cheese dip is more water than cheese and their guacamole is nothing more than avacados mixed with mayo a can of sliced tomatoes and some onion powder. The fact mayo was put into their guac should be a crime.
I decided to feed my love of spice and got the habenro pasta, and the sauce has no heat. The only redeeming factor was the crust on the chicken which held all the flavor. If I could get that recipe for the breading used for the chicken I'd consider this miserable trip worth it.
If you want a place to eat average food and watch a sports game. This place might be good. But you'd have to be drunk to consider the food here to be good. Which is hard to happen when they don't have a liquor selection worth...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst of all.. I am here to publicly note and say how DARE they make such tasty food š pictured here is NOT my plates because I freaking ate it. I stopped in earlier this week and ordered the alfredo and wings. The rice tastes just like my mothers and the beans dont taste like your typical restaurant beans. The only disappointing thing was that I did order a california asada burrito and got a regular asada burrito which was still very good however it was not what we wanted. The service is great. I heard an unhappy customer complaining (even though the menu tells you exactly what is on the plate) and the waiter was so pleasant and helpful about what was going on and w.o hesitation offered them a different plate. It is...
