Just went here for the first time. It has only been open for 2 days (as of this review). The restaurant has nice decor and is inside of a refinished old building. Customer service was nice.
For food, I started with the shrimp spring rolls for an appetizer. I would give them 3/5 stars. The mint in the rolls seem to overpower all the other flavors. I would ask for no mint in them.
For the main course, my sister-in-law and I had the Chicken Pad Thai. My sister-in-law loved it. However, I thought the onion in it was over powering and the smell of it seemed weird. I DID eat all of it. It wasn’t BAD it was just OKAY. I am not a picky eater.. I will literally eat anything.
My wife and son decided to get the Chicken Fried Rice. They both loved it. I tasted it and, again, I thought it was just OKAY and, again, lots of onions in the fried rice as well (and I actually like onions FYI).
We went at lunch and the price was $8 for my main course and $6 for spring rolls. I wouldn’t pay more than that. Dinner is $13 for the main course which, in my opinion, is too expensive.
Since some of my other family members like it here, I will probably end up going back. Next time I will try the Pho and update this review accordingly.
UPDATE: Went back again and had the shrimp Pho. It was very good and fresh. If you are sensitive to heat, do NOT put the chili powder/flakes in it or you will probably die. I am not sensitive to heat but it was bordering unenjoyable (my mistake) once I put the chili in. The pho provided a good amount of food.
Also, the people with me got some of the food that I had at lunch time the last time I went. The dinner portion size seems to be bigger so despite paying $5 more I think you are also getting more than the lunch menu.
In addition, my order was slightly wrong and they had to remake it so I had to wait longer to get my food. However, they gave me 4 free egg rolls for their mistake to compensate so I can’t complain too much. Great customer service. I am upping the stars from...
Read moreIncredible customer service and amazing atmosphere. It has a warm, inviting corridor when you first come in. Their food is always fresh and delicious. They have healthier options than most places in town. I have yet to find any other place in Newton that makes food this fresh, or that simply isn't heavily processed, unless it's directly from the fresh market.
They have Gluten free/sensitive and vegetarian options available. You can substitute meat on just about every dish, if you prefer tofu or fish. I highly recommend trying the level 3 spicy if you prefer more heat. Go above, if you're brave.
I can't press enough how fresh their food is. If you want an option that is made with thought, care, without heavily processed ingredients, this would be the place to go! It is a nice venue for events, a preferred place for a business meeting, engagement party/rehearsal dinner. It's perfect for a nice date, and is also family friendly. It is also cost effective. I don't get the opportunity to eat out a lot, so having something that is healthy, delicious, and affordable is invaluable. I am able to get 2-3 meals out of...
Read moreToday, Pam and I had lunch after church at Viet-Thai Taste, an exceptional Vietnamese restaurant in Newton. This time, I ventured out of my culinary comfort zone and tried a new dish: Viet Sausage with Fried Egg. This delightful combination consists of Vietnamese fried red sausage, onion, and bell pepper, served with rice and topped with a perfectly fried egg. It was an absolute culinary experience. Pam also shared a special treat with me—one of her exquisite egg rolls. I was impressed by the delicate and crispy wrapper. Interestingly, Pam even loaned me one of her crab rangoons, not for me to enjoy, but to capture in photographs. We had never encountered crab rangoons like those at Viet-Thai Taste. They are substantial and bursting with flavor. We were delighted to discover that Viet-Thai Taste in Newton has expanded its hours and is now...
