Brown's Chicken — Restaurant in Niles Township

It was my first time coming here ever. I had learned about an incident that happened here in 1993. Btw. Jan 7, 2023 marks the 30 year anniversary. Rest in peace.

But I never ate here because of it.

So I finally did about a week ago.

It was amazing.

The gentleman at the front counter was very patient. (As you can see now it takes a long time for me to get to my point) He also understood the round about way that I ordered my food.

"Can I have two orders of the picture when you first come in?"

We sat at a table while we waited for our order. It was like maaaybe 3min. And then I tasted the Mushrooms.

Oooomg. Those things were amazing. Perfect ratio if shroom to breading. Juicy explosion of flavor from the shrooms.

Then I tasted the chicken.

Seriously. I have avoided 31 years of happiness. I piece of meat sent from the gods of fulfillment. No, seriously. I do not know what they put in it but within two pieces of chicken I my satire level was beyond full. No other chicken place does that to me. None. I had the drum stick first. It was so crunchy and juicy. I almost made it through the piece of thigh. I had ordered a 7piece chicken. For like 8 bucks.

So basically in my mind. I just ordered 3meals.

When i got home i split the remaining chicken pieces into meals.

People, i had only one thigh the next meal and I was capped. It was still so juicy and crunchy.

I really wanted to like this place. I hope this review will help more the kitchen to have better quality as the intention is not to discourage people to est here. The chicken can use more seasoning. Also the chicken is not evenly cooked. Is it the fryer not correctly frying or I don't know. I will try to upload the pictures,some pieces have parts of over-fried mear,meat, is dry and looking like wood splinters texture. My daughter couldn't eat that part, as well myself. Also the chicken fingers were dry and I had to ask for sauce as they gave me my order without asking me what kind of sauce I wanted.I asked for Buffalo sauce, the sauce was thick like they used something to make more of it, as the color was lighter than regular Buffalo sauce and the consistency was like thick(think sour cream consistency) I also ordered chicken wings Buffalo spicy. Sauce was terrible, didn't taste like Buffalo sauce and not spicy at all(same side Buffalo sauce for chicken fingers) the chicken over cooked and splinter texture. mediocre chicken and questionable cleanliness…

The quality of Browns Chicken is not the same as it used to be… I was disappointed after biting into my zesty chicken sandwich. The “crispy” exterior of the chicken was not crunchy as a fried chicken sandwich should be but was chewy and difficult to eat. The chicken was also very dry on the inside. Seems like it was just a piece of fried chicken slapped in between coleslaw and hot sauce. It’s okay for a quick meal if this is the only place nearby but I wouldn’t come back. The soda machine was diluted with water that it takes away from the carbonation and taste of the soda- no matter which soda you get.

It was difficult to understand when the staff was calling out orders but if you stand nearby the pickup area you should be fine as they seem to know whose order is who.

Overall, the tables seem clean but the building is super old and aging. The area around the condiment bar and pickup area smells funny (like cleaning agents) The condiment bar area gives me the heebie jeebies which was disorganized and a very questionable ketchup pump tucked...
