Nice little seafood place with prices that DO NOT break the bank. Most seafood restaurants are in high priced (rent) locations which, in turn, drive up prices. Not here. So don't let the location fool you, they are all about the fish, and not about the being fancy.
We've been here 3 (maybe 4) times and were only slightly disappointed once. Everyone has an off day. I still enjoyed every meal I had.
I went on a Thursday night with my daughter who REALLY loves this place, and we both had a great time. She got the salmon dinner (very reasonably priced) I got the cioppino special (a bit more spendy, but worthwhile) and we devoured it all.
My daughter's salmon was prepared 'lemon pepper' style, which was the simplest version. Every "fish dish" is available in multiple cooking styles, so you have plenty of options between the actual fish and prep style. If you cannot find a combo you like, then you're too picky. Served with 2 sides. All are house made and fresh as a Spring rain.
My cioppino was a bountiful bowl of fish, shrimp, mussels and clams in a very flavorful tomato-based sauce. It was served PIPING HOT, which tells me that it was definitely made-to-order. BIG props for that. I hate being served luke-warm food that has been sitting around for however long. NOT the case here. Cioppino will vary from place to place and even day to day, but getting the basics right is key, they crush the basics. My only wish is that it included a serving of pasta in the broth, just as filler. They do include 2 breadsticks, but there is SO much broth that those breadsticks are nowhere near enough to soak it all up. I finished every spoonful.
Seafood is hard to do right. It can be extremely expensive. If you are looking for some good fish, prepared to order, give this place a shot. I think you'll be happy with it.
The ONLY reason I don't give this a 5 star was because of a previous visit where they were busy, and 2 of 4 orders were not quite right. But other visits were spot on. Yes, the place smells like fish... its a seafood restaurant, right? So that's...
Read moreFirst time my friend and I tried this place again since they reopened the food was great you can custom select you're seasoning and sides and it's all freshly made. The price was well worth it because the meals are based on per pound so we both got shrimp dishes it was a lot of shrimp in a 16.99 dish.. the standard size cost a dollar extra for corn and potatoes and there's other side you can pick that are a little more so that might bother some people that the sides aren't included but I still think it was worth it. The only problem we had is you couldn't do half and half after different things cuz they have it sold by the pound I don't know why and we couldn't find any other vegetables even though we asked several times besides corn and then later we saw on the bottom of the menu and they had steamed vegetables with fish but for some reason they don't have typical vegetables or tempura or things like that. It is basically all seafood and fish dishes and a lot of Gumbo style type of dishes. Very very tasty!! They have a family style that is small that would feed two people that has about four different things crab and shrimp and other things in it for about $34 that would be worth it...
Read moreNormally don't go to "Boiler" restaurants as they are over priced, however, we saw other items on the menu & decided to try it. Had a fried clams appetizer (one of the reasons we came by...cannot find fried clams in any restaurants anymore!) We ordered Shrimp w/ Angel Hair Pasta, Was $17 & came with shrimp, mushrooms and bell.peppers, great taste and well balanced. I personally ordered the "Seafood Platter" it was just $21 & had 1/2 lb of whole shrimp, a bunch of black mussels, a couple of potatoes halved, corn on the cob and sliced sausage in a tomato based cajun broth...excellent! Not too spicy and was more than I could eat. Hubby ordered Cioppino, and it was full.of clams, shrimp, salmon and more. Broth was tomato based, not acidic at all, and came with a breadstick. Was $28 & hubby LOVED it! They do have a variety of fish platters, cooked w/ your choice of seasonings, salads and many fried options shrimp, fish, clams, etc) with "chips". Service was excellent, friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back...one of the better restaurant...
