Dodge's Southern Style — Restaurant in Norfolk

I stopped here at approximately 12:18 pm to get some gas. They were advertising $2.84 a gallon if you paid with cash. So, I stopped at the Navy Federal on Hampton boulevard, and grabbed some cash. I stepped inside the store, and there were two cashiers working. One at the front, and one after the food stand. There was one customer at the first register, and 7 at the second. It appeared they were all looking to buy food, so I stopped at the first register to pay for some gas. The cashier looked up at me, and asked what I wanted rather rudely. I stated that I was just here to get some gas. She, then told me to go to back of the other line. I said, "Oh my apologies I thought that they were in line for food." Then, I walked my happy butt back there without complaint. As I walked over she stated, "it is the line for everything."

About 30 seconds later, another woman walked in, and I am assuming shared my first thought about the two lines. She stopped at the first register, and waited. I stayed in my line, and watched as the cashier repeatedly looked at the new customer. She, then said "Ma'am, do you need to pay for gas? I can help you right here".

OH REALLY! So, I stepped up, and said "excuse me ma'am, how is that fair? Why did you send me to the back of this line, and not her?" The man standing in front me of laughed, and said "that is a really good question" before went to the second cashier. I stood there as the first cashier started saying that "I was misinterpreting the situation"! How? I needed gas, and only gas. The second customer needed gas, and only gas. SO, why was I the only one sent to the back of another line??

There is 1 particular person that works behind the counter that has influenced this rating, she is the beginning of a bad day each and every time I walk in there in the morning when she works. Her attitude towards customers is atrocious! Just this morning, against my better judgment because I know who is working, I stopped in to grab a biscuit before my 12 hr day began, and there was an older gentleman at the counter obviously flustered because his card wasn't working, he obviously was looking for some help from the attendant. Instead of walking yhe 5 feet around the register to attempt to help this man thus attendant just kept repeating the same instructions over and over. After a few minutes and multie attempts to run his card, a nice gentleman approached and paid for the man's things along with a few more things he was getting. Instead of being polite this woman gave the nice gentleman an attitude as well. This type of service is ridiculous! I will not be spending my hard earned money with this...

I went inside to use the restroom at Dodge’s gas station on Hampton Blvd. while my daughter was getting gas. I have never been in a public bathroom that was so clean and well designed. They have a full length mirror, a hook to hang your purse, bars for the disabled. I keep thinking that it was designed by a woman. They also have a tv screen with ads and a baby changing table that’s built into the wall. Excellent use of space! I’d like to thank again all in charge, the manager, the owner, and those whose job is to clean the bathroom. Thank you all for working hard to keep us all healthy. Keep up the...
