So disappointed. Just moved to the area (and in with my boyfriend), we biked there after a drink at Cova. Was very excited to check out the local spots and the view and location here looked great. There was a 20 min wait, not an issue, we waited at the bar and had a seltzer. Once seated it took an hour to get our order of hush puppies, which were delicious. I ordered the cold seafood platter because I really wanted oysters, and some shrimp. I asked about a mignonette and the waitress said they didn’t have that however she assured me she would bring lemons and horseradish all the fixings and I was satisfied as most places don’t have it. We were told numerous times that the kitchen is backed up and I understand how that can be. Understandably they were busy on a Sunday (and Father’s Day) but I’ve never waited so long to be more disappointed as the night went on. After the hushpuppies finally came it took another hour to receive our entrees. I was very surprised to see no oysters on the plate. I was trying to find our waitress who was nowhere to be found and the kitchen was closed but this time, but I assumed this was a mistake. When I found her to ask about they oysters she very bluntly told me they ran out, when I asked why I wasn’t told or why the fixings were not included she said “I guess I can’t do anything right”. I was sincerely trying to determine the confusion- I’ve never ordered something at a restaurant that they ran out of and they didn’t tell me, and served me the rest with no explanation. She said that the meal would be discounted and Dustin would be over to speak to me. I also asked about waters which she gave us straws but never brought the water. When Dustin (manager? Not sure) came he brought the lemons and was very blunt about running out of oysters and discounting the bill. I’m flabbergasted at this point- I would have ordered something else if told this at ANY point. The food I got was raw clams and room temp shrimp- it was clearly on ice at some point but was floating in an inch of water when it came to my table. I couldn’t even eat it. They discounted my bill (I would have preferred to EAT something) and the waters never arrived. Very sad experience. The bar was nice, and while busy I would return for a drink. Also many other servers were very nice and attentive (to their tables) so this review does not represent the entire staff at this...
Read moreA delicious family meal out. Arrived on a yachting race day so parking was valet only (complimentary, tips of course appreciated) as a result of the lot being shared with the marina. Absolutely no problem with that but mentioned as some folks are nervous about valet parking so might be worth a check if you fall into that camp. Also seemed like you could sit by the pool (use the pool?) outside although on a warm August evening we opted for the air conditioning. There’s no WiFi but equally it’s the type of place to enjoy the atmosphere, views of the marking and really delicious food. My wife thought the crab cake was spectacular and the calamari equally so. I had a topped cheeseburger which was although lovely, especially with tater tots although no problems with the fries either. Kids gobbled up their food (calamari and a hamburger respectively) and the service was really good throughout: friendly and attentive. Being really picky, the only downside on service was the table clearer who kept appearing and seeming to want to remove each piece of crockery separately at every opportunity and came over to ask (even asking about just one plate that still had some food on it!). I admire the enthusiasm, but it seemed just a little overbearing, as if there was some sort of tableware shortage and the poor kitchen assistant had been sent to recover every item possible as soon as possible! That didn’t take away from the overall experience of this delightful spot, however, that served really lovely food in a great atmosphere (I enjoyed the spacious feel as well - a nice wide aisle rather than cramming the tables in). I can’t comment on the crab cakes personally, but based on my wife’s comments, if that sort of thing is to your taste, then Surf Rider is not...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Surf Rider and I cannot recommend it enough. From the moment we arrived, Aiden, our waiter, provided exceptional service. He greeted us with a warm smile and expertly recommended delicious drinks and appetizers that perfectly complemented our meal.
Throughout our lunch, Aiden checked in with us frequently, ensuring that we had everything we needed and that our dining experience was enjoyable. His attentiveness and friendly demeanor added an extra level of comfort to our afternoon.
Despite the busy atmosphere, the entire staff at Surf Rider exhibited remarkable teamwork. Their seamless coordination and efficiency never made us feel neglected or rushed. It was evident that they genuinely cared about providing each guest with a memorable experience.
One of the highlights of our visit was undoubtedly the location at the marina. Whether the weather permitted or not, we had the option to dine outside, taking in the picturesque views, or enjoy the waterfront scenery from inside. The ambiance added a special touch to our meal, making it even more enjoyable.
And let's not forget about the food! The dishes served at Surf Rider were nothing short of superior. Each bite was bursting with flavor and made with the freshest ingredients. The menu offered a wide range of options, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences.
In conclusion, Surf Rider deserves every bit of a 5-star rating.
