Billy Sims BBQ — Restaurant in Norman

I first ate at this Billy Sims restaurant about two months ago while meeting with a group. Since then it's become a go-to spot for all sorts of events, from meals out with my wife to casual lunches with friends.

It's kind of weird that I'm writing a glowing review of this store because quite frankly, I'd had not-so-great experiences at another Billy Sims restaurant several years ago. I'd avoided the chain altogether since then. When I walked in I was not happy our group chose this location to meet. But I walked out pleasantly surprised.

People primarily go to restaurants for good food, and excels in that area. Everything I've tried has been tasty and warm. I love that meats are smoked in such a way that the process enhances them instead of smothering the true flavors.

Billy Sims sauces really complement their meats. Nothing I've ordered has been greasy, which can't be said of all BBQ places.

Portions are good while prices are reasonable, resulting a great value. Staff members have always been friendly and patient while I decide on which new thing to try on that visit.

Their dining room and prep area has always been clean, with plenty of parking just outside the door...two things I really appreciate.

I've now eaten here four times, and for one visit traveled 20 miles one way for a meal. I suppose that makes the place a "local destination restaurant."

If you're looking for some really good barbecue at a reasonable price, stop in here. Maybe you'll be as delighted...

I FORGOT TO SAY HOLD THE FLIES!!!

So, today I had a craving for Billy Sims so I went into the eatery here in Norman!!! And when I went in the place was clean and I didn’t see the flies flying around in the eating area! So, I order just as any customers would and they brought the food out to and I said my grace and began talking with those at my table.... something said look down at your sandwich before u eat it and low and behold there is this HUGE fly with a white back side so u know what that means it’s about to lay and egg!!! So I got the attention of the customer service ppl at the front counter and the guy was nice at first until he called the store manager and the store manager came to the store and he walked in with this arrogant about him like so what you had a fly in your food, he proceeded to tell me that he wasn’t going to do anything about it and I could just get a remake of my food and go own!!! This guy had the nerve to say, “Jesus Christ” so I asked him had he tried him.. Hey can’t go wrong with inviting someone to church! So, I wouldn’t recommend this place unless you tell BILLY SIM’S to HOLD...

I ordered this via Doordash for the first time ever trying it. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. I ordered the 4 4 rib dinner, with beans and loaded potato salad. I added chopped brisket for a few dollars extra. These ribs just fell off the bone. Absolutely melt in your mouth, no utensils needed, no sauce needed, just pure deliciousness. Once they hit my mouth, I forgot I even asked for BBQ sauce. The beans were the perfect blend of BBQ and sweetness, not to mushy, but perfectly cooked. The loaded potato salad, let me tell you, that is slap ya mamma in the mouth good!! The portions were plentiful, and I had to wait til the next morning to enjoy my brisket. Once again, I am just flabbergasted at the amount of flavor and smokey goodness that are contained in each bite. Not greasy, not dry, just a perfect balance of meaty vs. Juicy. I then indulged in the enormous banana pudding dessert. The velvety pudding and crunchy wafers make the perfect "just sweet enough" after dinner dessert. I will definitely be back to try more of this menu, but...
