It was my first time going here today. I took my little to get some books, there were so many books! I feel like I need a whole day to look at everything on all the levels. It was very nice and the building itself is beautiful. I loved all of the different views you saw from the different floors, and the inside architecture was amazing.

This is such a nice building and a friendly staff. However, the outside of the building looks neglected. I understand wanting to create a "natural" environment, but the grass is so overgrown that cars can't see you walking out to the parking lot. The outside appearance should match the quality of the interior of the library.

The resources given to the public at this library are fantastic. Audio studio, photo/video studio, 3D printing, laptop check-out, great study rooms with big TVs, conference rooms, a million places to read, etc. Not to meeting the interior design and architecture and incredible.

Absolutely gorgeous new building-- so much outdoor light streaming through floor to ceiling windows it's shocking compared to the previous building. Tons of inviting seating arrangements, computer stations, gorgeous second- and third-story views of Norman, and quality study areas (private rooms and public tables) to choose from. The kids section is massive and more or less takes up the entire first floor, and the Redbud conference room--gosh, I hope the speakers know they'll need to compete with the scenery! There is a quiet area on the third floor with wood paneling and floor-to-ceiling shelves that practically demands quiet as you walk through it. Bring the family for the views of Norman from the open-air balcony, and take a glance at the green roof on the second floor. Plenty of parking out back and a bus stop as well. Within walking distance (

This $39 million dollar facility is closed indefinitely after only 4 years of operation because of “extensive and severe” black mold. Hope the city can get their money back from whoever build the piece of crap, because Norman taxpayers shouldn’t have to foot the bill for city officials’ and contractors’ collective ineptitude (to use the least accusatory word)..

It’s like a cake you can admire but can’t eat because it is laced with poison. Still, it might look good on a postcard, and isn’t that what spending $39 million plus who knows how much for fixing it is all about?

Oh yeah, it had a smattering of actual physical books - but those will have to be incinerated because of the mold.

Well done, all. And the entire library staff was retained on salary in spite of the fact that there is, well, no library. I am not a smart man so I assume this makes sense somewhere in the taxpayer-funded universe.

Other than the above it’s a...

The Central Branch of the Norman Public Library is a bit of a home away from home for me. I work and live nearby, so I am able to go there often to get work done or browse the newest book releases. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, and I bring my kids with me often. The childrens area of the library is simply fantastic, filled with a wide array of books and computers and activities for every age of kid to enjoy.

The book selection is great here, and if they don't have something you want there is a better than good chance they will be able to get it from one of the other several libraries in the Pioneer Library System.

My favorite things to get here are movies and comic book trade collections, both of which they have an abundance of.

This is great library, and it'll soon be moving into a spacious, brand new, state of the art facility not even a block away....
