So my girlfriend and I seen this restaurant on Instagram and that they were having a soft opening today. We decided to check it out. I want to say that our overall experience was a 2/10. We were seated and was brought out some small appetizer portion of potatoes and macaroni salad, cole slaw and a green sauce and some fresh warm bread. It was good. Happy to have something to pick on while we looked over their menu. Waitress came over and my girlfriend ordered the labneh and smoked meat platter. As the title says, we are thinking itās different kinds of meat and she requested no lamb. Waitress said ok and I ordered the Smoked Brisket Prime Angus Beef with smoked rice. Cool. So far so good. A few mins pass by and someone not our waitress drops of a plate of different looking hummuses and a bowl of yogurt and diced cucumber. This was definitely not we ordered but was delicious. Labneh was one of the items on the plate next to the hummus. Shortly after a plate of what seemed like pulled pork over rice was placed on our table. Definitely did not seem like something we had ordered either. I started picking at it because I started to believe it may be my dish since itās a smoked meat with rice. 20 mins pass by and we have to ask a manager for her dish. Shortly after someone else not our waitress brings out a dish which now seems to be my dish which is the smoked brisket prime angus beef. Presentation was nice but definitely overcooked. Hard to chew and NOT juicy at all. I had to scoop some of the labneh with the meat. Manager comes over and asks if everything is ok and I tell him that she hasnāt gotten her meat platter and we donāt know what this pulled pork looking meat over rice is. Not something we ordered and he took the dish. Another few mins pass and another female manager comes over and says, āthis is the smoked meat platterā and I explain to her that how is that a meat platter if itās only one meat and the description nor the waitress say it was shredded meat. The waitress made it seem like it was different kinds of meat, not just one kind of meat. Something canāt be called a āplatterā but be only 1 kind of meat. Everything was a mess regarding our meal. We got stuff we didnāt order and didnāt get stuff we did order. I understand it was soft opening but it was just a bad experience between the menu and how it explained the food descriptions, waitresses not knowing her menu, food coming out that we didnāt order and food that never came out like my smoked rice with meat. All I had was a large piece of extra well done meat and a few pieces of salad. I appreciate both male and female managers that listened to us regarding our experience but definitely needs a lot of improvement and better communication between the restaurant and their menu for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI donāt usually like to write bad reviews but: Walked into the restaurant, the only server was sitting on his phone facing the kitchen with his back to the door. After waiting for a minute I walked up to him because he didnāt notice us. The menu is misleading at best. We got the hummus, cheese sticks, āchef meat platterā from the appetizers that was supposedly brisket with French fries and cheese and the lamb shoulder from the mains (1.5lbs, ~$55). It was a nice gesture to send out a small salad before the food started however after that is where the food problems begin: The bread we got for the hummus was breaking apart. If you are going to used bags of bread at least replace them often instead of freezing them. This did not taste fresh at all. The hummus tasted canned, not made in the house, although the presentation looked nice. The cheese sticks couldāve use some cheese but theyāre okay compared to the ābrisketā. That is not a brisket. Thatās shredded beef topped with fries and cheese. The menu should be a lot clearer about that and the server should mention that itās on top and not on the side since this is whatās expected at every restaurant. The lamb shoulder meat was breaking apart, not falling apart. It was dry and needed more salt in the marinade. The carrots right next to it had so much seasoning that it was inedible. This is the first time I barely eat hummus. The ābrisketā was left 80% uneaten. Forced down the dry lamb shank because this was breakfast and lunch and weāre already paying for everything. Hereās the annoying part: We were not asked how the food was once or if we needed anything. Simply not checked on at all. There is more to this that I will do a favor to the owners and staff and not mention publicly.
For the love of god, stop using an entirely frozen set of ingredients. Train the servers to pay better attention (not that they should be standing like miserable slaves just looking at the guests, but some slight effort). Thereās no way Iāll pay for any...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLast night was our first visit to Kanoon for iftar, and it was an absolute delight! Despite it being only the third day since opening, the restaurant effortlessly navigated the challenges of a soft launch during Ramadan, showcasing excellence in every aspect mashaAllah. From the meticulously planned layout and design to the impeccable cleanliness, they exceeded expectations. The staff, exuding both friendliness and professionalism, ensured a memorable dining experience!
Accompanied by my family of six, we indulged in a feast fit for royalty - from succulent beef briskets and tender lamb shoulders to juicy chicken chops and a delectable mix grill featuring salmon and shrimp. Before diving into the main course, we were treated to a tantalizing array of appetizers including mac and cheese, flavorful muhammara, baba ghanouj, crisp salads, and freshly baked soft pita bread.
Each bite was a symphony of flavors, with the brisket seasoning and lamb shoulders deserving special mention for their exceptional taste and tenderness. The Fresh mint lemonade provided a refreshing accompaniment, perfectly mixed and brimming with freshness.
The cook, with his humble demeanor, ensured that only the finest cuts were served, while brother Muzamil, one of the owners, played the role of an impeccable host, embodying warmth and hospitality rarely found elsewhere! He also made us try the Brazilian lamb, a delightful surprise, left us craving more with its lean and tender texture.
Despite some early negative reviews by some from the first day, which seemed unjust given the challenges of a soft opening and during Ramadan! our experience was nothing short of perfect. Kanoon unquestionably deserves a 10/10 rating across the board for its outstanding food, attentive staff, and inviting atmosphere.
Highly recommend Kanoon to anyone looking for exceptional dining experience, and I eagerly anticipate my next visit, accompanied by a group of...
