I wasn’t even going to post a review because it has been a few months since I’ve been back here… but every time I want to eat out my options are limited because of previous experiences with these food places in New Brunswick and today I’m going to address them. When I first noticed that this restaurant had new management I was very excited because coincidentally enough, I stopped coming to the previous owners when it was TexMex because they always messed up my order but had great food; until one day I had enough of the mistakes. To my surprise, when I walked in the owner looked very familiar! Then it hit me, this was the same guy from SOL-KALANIT'S Restaurant & Coffee, another breakfast spot in NB I enjoyed until he gave me a platter full of sausage and ham after I ordered a VEGGIE platter. I don’t eat meat, so of course when I got home I was very upset that I couldn’t enjoy my food. I called back and he seemed to be very dismissive—rushing me off the phone after I asked for reassurance that my meal would be recooked on a grill away from meat. He ended up hanging up the phone on me so I just got my money back and never went back. So fast forward to Sol-Brunch, once I realized who it was, I reminded him of my previous experience at his other location. He said his apologies and ensured it wouldn’t happen again. I went along, dined in and ordered my VEGGIE platter.. 10 minutes later, what comes out? Sausage and bacon plastered all over my veggie platter😂 I couldn’t believe it! I said “papi!! There’s meat all over again!?!” He said “oh my gosh I’m sorry I forgot I’ll remake you one” 🥲 so yet again same owner, different restaurant, same issue. I paid and never went back again. It’s so important to be mindful and intentional of when you have customers who don’t eat meat ordering from your establishment! It’s sad because the food is really good, but I can’t...
Read moreSol is one of those rare neighborhood restaurants that really brings a community together. Good food, excellent vibes, and wonderful care and service from the owners and staff is reflected in the many smiling faces I see here every morning, evening, and on the weekends when I pass by.
I finally got the chance to stop in for a proper meal (normally I grab a reasonably priced breakfast sandwich and a coffee here while I'm running for the bus) and I was delighted with my experience. The Sol Breakfast Platter hit the spot with a bold, hot cup of coffee! The music and general vibrancy of the room added to my pleasure of the experience. I look forward to coming back again with my wife in the near future to try out more of the delicious sounding items...
Read moreThe place looked nice and clean, but that was the ONLY plus!!! I ordered the Birria Ramen. It was basically a cup of Oodles of Noodles!!! It came in the same plastic container that the Chinese restaurants use for their homemade iced teas. Online it said, 2 for 15. I decided to go to the restaurant, because it was my first time hearing about the restaurant. They charged my card $19, for ONE cup of noodles. The noodles were too mushy and the beef that was supposed to be mixed in, was barely seen. I could have went to the supermarket and bought a box of ramen for $2. Definitely a rip off. I WILL NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THEM...
