Absolutely horrible experience. There were four in my party: three burgers with fries and fish and chips. It took over an hour to get our food. When the food came out together, I asked for some tartar sauce before trying my fish, but the waitress never came back. I found that my fish was soggy with the fries being wet from the fish juice. The one bite I had of it, it tasted good, but the texture and temperature were really off. Everyone’s burgers and fries were also cold. After being there for over an hour and a half, we went to go pay. After standing at the register for over 5 minutes, the waitress (same one bringing out our food and checked us in) made us stand back so she could ring up the ice cream patrons. It took forever to ring us up. They were gracious enough to take off my fish order, but constant complaints of being short staffed from the owner/manager and having difficulties taking the fish off the bill were over the top. The owner/manager also asked why I didn’t say anything. The poor waitress never came back. It was interesting that the manager was immediately available to come to the register. For a $20 burger and fries or $20 fish and chips, it definitely was not worth it. Probably the worst dining experience I’ve had.

Feedback: tell your customer up front that you are short staff and wait times can be up to an hour. Go ahead and bring out people’s food when it’s hot and finished. Maybe change it into a buzzer system so that the patron gets their food instead of one waitress checking people out, getting the ice cream, bringing their food out, and whatever else you have the poor girl doing.

Also of note, we came in a little after 1pm and left at 3pm. The place was not crowded, with only 4-5...

While in Buxton, we came here once for breakfast and once for lunch - both were great! We had fast and friendly service, with excellent food. We unfortunately waited until our last day here to come back for lunch, as it was honestly the best meal we had while on the island! Very nice sized portions - we had the fisherman's waffle and awful waffle for breakfast, both with generous portions of meat and home fries, and soft and fluffy waffles. For lunch, we had the shrimp burger and the shrimp and grits. The "burger" had lots of good sized shrimp and both melty and crispy cheese - absolutely delicious! The shrimp and grits were seasoned perfectly and offered what I would call a dinner sized portion at lunch time. We also enjoyed a couple of local draft craft beers. If we would have known how great the lunch was, we would have came every day of...

What a fun and delicious stop in Buxton, NC ! We tried a couple of their specialty hotdogs and were seriously impressed. The mac & cheese hotdog topped with BBQ sauce was an unexpected flavor bomb—in the best way. Paired with skinny-cut fries, it made for a fantastic, indulgent lunch. We also tried a loaded jalapeño dog, which brought the perfect kick.

The vibe inside is laid-back and fun, with tons of amusing signage to read while you wait. Service was quick—you order at the counter, grab a table, and they bring your food out fresh. The staff was super friendly and even checked in to make sure we were loving everything (we were!).

There’s also an in-store ice cream counter that looked tempting, but we were too full to try it. Next time for sure! Highly recommend stopping in and grabbing one of their creative hotdogs—you...

We came here on a lazy warm winter day in January. Basically I cannot rave enough! First, we stopped mainly simply because they were open, but walking in...Led Zeppelin playing, the old Hobbit cartoon playing over a Jolly Roger flag on the wall. The staff were friendly (not cliche, but actually...I wanted to bounce out back and have a beer and a smoke with them). And the food was great. It’s not going to get a Michelin star or draw food travelers from NYC, but damn it was good. (See photos). Both were recommended by the staff. The shrimp burger I have already recounted in 3 stories....and I just ate it yesterday. Haha. And the blacked drum sandwich was amazing for a guy cooking in a griddle at an ice cream joint in the OBX in January. Irregardless, recommended.

We were looking for an eatery that had “something for everyone” as my husband is a fan of seafood and the smell of seafood makes me sick to my stomach. We decided to try Fatty’s and we were pleasantly surprised! The casual atmosphere is exactly what we were hoping for. I was able to order a Philly with fries. The smell of seafood never overwhelmed me! My husband loved his shrimp and grits. We were so impressed with the food we ate there twice during our stay. We highly recommend Fatty’s for those families who have folks who can’t handle seafood! They had the best fries and onion rings I’ve ever had… and the “come back sauce” had us wanting to come back again! Additionally, the cook was able to guarantee our little one with an egg allergy was able to eat something safe.
