We was hoping for a great experience out of this "bakery" but found it to be a bit disappointing. They advertised "breakfast" on their website and even their menu has it listed but we were told "it's been 2 years since we served breakfast" we mentioned it's on your website. They respond "yeah, we need to get that updated" - it's been 2 years, I don't think they care! While we were looking at the baked goods several people came in asking about Breakfast to be turned away. We ordered a chocolate cookie - it was dry, over cooked and crumbled into tiny pieces. The brownie with M&Ms was also dry. I wasn't feeling the passion. The dining area has a sign which reads "please clear your table", uh, it's not a workaraunt! Prior us ordering our pizza I asked if they made their dough, sauce? Was told yes we make it all. We ordered the cheese 16" when it came out it looked extremely yummy. The crust was weak and unable to support the cheese. The pizza oozed some liquid, a grease of sorts (similar to pepperoni on a pizza) I've not seen a cheese pizza drip and pool like this before. Check out my photos We did eat the whole pizza but I wouldn't rank it the "Islands Best" cause it's far from it. This place needs improvement but at least they have 100 heath rating on cleanliness. They have that going for them. Oh they have espressos too!

We have been coming here for years, and with the recent change in ownership I’ve been mindful to keep an eye out for changes. Well I’d say it’s nothing but good changes so far! The pizza is, dare I say, better. We got the bbq, a half cheese half pepperoni, and the east coast. Very good! Highly recommend. For those 3 large pizzas it was about $75 total with tax. I have never been inclined to get the bakery items. I remember I had a few under the old ownership and I was never impressed. I think they’re currently in a re branding phase. They have breakfast sandwiches in the morning hours, they have lunch hours as well. Previously they just had dinner hours. They also had printed out menus with the titles “Hatteras island pizza”, so I don’t know.

We had the most amazing stop at Gingerbread House. The food was REAL! No artificial flavorings, all natural fresh toppings on our pizza, fresh Grated cheese from milk and buffolo, nothing processed. And the best Jalepeno Poppers I've ever had. The proprietor, Tom, was friendly and sat with us for a minute after he set up an umbrella for our patio table. His son got my dog some water. Tom shared his experience hiking the Appelachian Trail with his family. The food was great! The service and people were great, even the other customers were great.

We were really excited about this place based on the many glowing reviews. All I can say is that if this is the best pizza in the Outer Banks, there must be some really terrible pizza in the Outer Banks. We ordered two large hand tossed pizzas and 2 dozen wings with extra sauce.

We drove 30 minutes to pick up our food. I quickly checked the wing box to make sure the extra sauce was in there and it was not. I asked the lady and she said, "oh we don't do that. The wings come pre done like this." I was a bit shocked because I can only assume that the wings are frozen out of a bag with the sauce already on them. Not only were the wings tiny (about the size of my pinkie finger - see photo,) the skin was floppy and rubbery. The wings were baked but they were not baked so that the skin was crispy. At 9 dollars for 12, I was extremely unhappy.

The pizza was pretty awful too. I only sampled one of the two pizzas ordered. My pizza was a hand tossed thin crust with chicken, sausage, onion and roasted red pepper. The crust had the taste and texture of bread and was most definitely not thin or crispy. It reminded me of dominos. I only found one piece of chicken on the pizza which was one of those processed chicken tenders type things that had been sliced. There was a few pieces of sausage but it didn't taste of anything. The sauce tasted like cheap canned pizza sauce with lots of oregano.

The pizza we're 20 dollars each and the 24 wings were 18 dollars. Our total bill was 58 bucks and it was all pretty terrible in terms of quality and taste. They definitely used cheap ingredients. I've honestly had better pizza at Pappa Johns for half the price.

I would definitely...

We are from the Boston area and were vacationing in the Outer Banks recently. While there we asked around if there were any good pizza places. Your bakery was highly recommended. We were there on Saturday, June 25th. Being from Boston we have some of the best Pizza places around. After enjoying a pizza at the Gingerbread House we were pleasantly amazed at how good it was, it was as good as any pizza we have had at home.

Note: Everyone working there that evening were extremely pleasant and professional. A funny: one waitress photo bombed a photo I was taking of my husband, and then took photo's of he and I.

Special Note: We left our camera bag on the chair and did not realize it until later that evening. When we realized it, we asked the campground host for your number, and were told it would not do any good to call, that you are closed on Sunday's and would not answer your phone. We stopped by on our way home to leave a note with our information so as you folks could mail it to us which we would have paid for. However, it was our lucky day. Sue showed up to do some paperwork, and greeted us warmly. When we told her we left our camera bag there, right away she said yes you did, and went inside and gave it to us. She said if we had left and she found our note, that she would have gladly mailed it to us because we were not the first tourist who left something there.

It is was very refreshing to be so warmly received. Our experience with the Gingerbread House from beginning to end was awesome! Thank you to all, especially Sue. :-) Next time we come down, which we will, we will stop in. Billy & Ruthie Stryke, Burlington...

After being an annual visitor for years we went in June of 2023. The new owner was unprofessional and very rude not only to his customers but also the two young employee doing their best. I called in an order of seafood pizza and repeated twice, and he repeated it back to me. I was told it would be and hour and fifteen minutes. Upon arriving there were about fifteen customers who had been waiting up to two and a half hours. While waiting I witnessed the owner bring his two employees to tears multiple when they would try to help or ask a simple question. He had a wrong order with customer in front of me and when she told him it was he said “it’s not wrong, I took the order” then when my pizza and it was incorrect he told me he took the order and they do not offer that pizza and not once apologized or acted with remorse or professionalism. I asked to refund and he refused, and said he’d make me anything but with the backlog of customers of two and a half hours I turned that offer down. While we were waiting the owner came out and was talking to us about how wonderful the new of selection of cheese on the pizza but did not assist in helping his costumers or his cashier employees. Very disappointed in the manner he conducted himself, especially to his young employees who were very apologetic and doing their best. I am understanding of a busy and backlogged night, especially for a place this popular, but I am not okay with bringing employees to tears and being rude...
