Stopped here a half hour before our equine adventures ride 2 minutes away. Thought that would be enough time to grab a sandwich. There were only two other people inside. Ordered from a nice woman behind the counter from what looked like a nice menu, and waitedâŠand waited. One call in order finally got picked up, then the other two in the place got served, and we waited. After about 20 mins, not a completely unreasonable time, but we started to feel like we might have misjudged and would run out of time. This is where it went bad. My wife explained we had someplace to be and politely asked the woman at the counter if she had an idea how much longer it would be. Again the woman was pleasant and said she thought there was only one order ahead of us. However, the man making sandwiches in the back heard this and lost his mindâŠshouted âitâll be done when itâs doneâ and grumbled something else with a very hostile look directed at my wife. At which time I snapped back âhey, she didnât tell you to hurry up, just how long it was going to be.â Again, he belligerently barked âIâm going as fast as I canâ or words to that effect and waved his arms at us dismissively. Now I raised my voice a little and repeated that we hadnât asked him to go faster or anything like that but wanted to simply know how long it would take. And then said to wife, letâs go. The nice woman tried to say something to get us to stay but the man waved his hand at us in a go motion. At this point I wouldnât have eaten anything he made even it was ready that second. He was completely obnoxious and rude to my wife in a way I wouldnât accept under any circumstance let alone to customers whose business you are supposed to appreciate. I feel for the woman who has to work with him and hope she doesnât also live with him. What an a-hole. Donât support this guy.
Reading your reply, you still donât get it. We didnât feel more important than anyone else and are sympathetic to the labor shortage and other troubles of small business which we like to support. The ONLY thing we wanted was to know if it was going to be a another few minutes, or another half hour, so that we could decide if we had time to wait or had made a mistake. There was not a problem until You got nastyâŠa polite response of any kind would have been accepted graciously but that was too much to ask. I stand by my...
Read moreFor a year, I wanted to try this place. And I finally did in September 2025. I almost hate to write this review because I really do support local places in the Outer Banks. Maybe it was just a bad day. But I spent $16.00 on a small container of vinegar coleslaw (not good) and small container of loaded potato potato salad and a quarter pound of ham. The ham was delicious. I must say, it almost was like fresh ham cut to order. But the vinegar coleslaw was horrible. All you tasted was this bitterness, and a horseradish taste. Not to mention the color was off putting and everyone who tasted it at the house did not like it. The potato salad had this weird color as well to the potatoes. They were gray. And had way too much sour cream. The look of the potatoes were unappetizing, and they were hard and cut weirdly and no one liked them as well. It was very odd when I first walked in. Oddly quiet and weird. But the girl who greeted me was very nice. They do have a wine tasting. And I think small plate tasting on a Thursday night, which is rather expensive. Especially for people on a budget, but they seem to draw the crowd. Maybe I just caught them on an off week and I will give them another shot next time I visit. Please consider this review as constructive criticism. Because I want you to be around year after year. I am always willing to give it a second try. By the way, they have a cute little bar in the corner that serves wine and beer, which I will also try next time when I have more time to hang out. To be honest, if I had the energy, I would have brought the salads back and got a refund. That's how much we all did not like them. But we were just too tired to go back. Due to the niceness of the staff, the cleanliness of the place and the tasty ham, although I did not like the salads which I really went there for, I will always try it again. As someone who is way too busy to sometimes even make sandwiches on vacation, I love to have a deli nearby so I don't want my review to discourage you but maybe also encourage you to try it and see...
