Gregg's Kitchen — Restaurant in North Carolina

I'm guessing it's because I've just ordered the wrong items each time, but both times I've eaten at Gregg's, I've been thoroughly unimpressed. On my first visit, I got a club sandwich, which was decent, not bad, but far from the best club sandwich I've had in the area. My main issue was the french fries. They were so dark brown they looked like they were very overcooked, yet were somehow still super soggy, and not even the tiniest bit crispy at all. I ate it anyway, and decided to go back later on to give them another chance, but somehow I had an even worse meal the second time around. I got a flounder sandwich, which was definitely a mistake. Never in my entire lifetime of enjoying fried foods, have I ever had a piece of fried fish with even HALF as many bones as this one did. I was pulling out multiple pieces of bone with literally every bite I took. Also, the french fries were exactly the same as the first time... overcooked, yet still completely limp and soggy.

I've heard nothing but great reviews of this place, which makes me sad that I've had such poor experiences with their food... I suppose I need to order something more along the lines of southern home cooking (which seems like Gregg's main menu focus) instead of ordering...

Every time I have eaten at Greg’s Kitchen, I have dined here with the same life long friend.

She said she enjoys ALL the different dishes. On the other hand - my choices were not as simple. Breakfast 🍳 - 2 🥚 Eggs over MEDIUM (a little runny yolk) Bacon 🥓 crispy - it more resembles “jerky.. I could not chew it up….

My pancake were definitely overcooked - actually “tough” not light and fluffy….. I DID REQUEST THEM THIN… this texture could very easily be a bad decision on my part…..

Overall our breakfast 🍳 was GOOD.. will we return here?? ABSOLUTELY 💯 There was only one waitress working, covering tables and register… at the time about 35-40 diners eating. Our tea 🧋 and coffee ☕️ ycups were never empty - waitress was friendly and stayed on target. SHE WAS VERY GOOD AT HER WORK… Thanks Gregg’s Kitchen..

• SIDE NOTE ** handicap parking 🅿️ is available - but they REALLY NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE FRONT DOOR - IT IS VERY HARD TO OPEN - I can’t open it. ...

This place was new when I tried it out with my family. It was a great atmosphere and very friendly staff. The waitress we had I wish I could remember her name was the perfect down to earth country girl that you wanted waiting on you. She was honestly thr best part of the night. Some of the orders we got were wrong from the kitchen... a lack of egg here a missing bacon there so on and so on. The waitress saved the day with her humor and attempts at fixing the situation. The food was good with room for improvment that time will help and the service was great. The main reason I give this place 4 starts instead of 3 is because they were new and still working out the kinks. I do recommend this place to try for yourself. The prices are also reasonable. I am sure my family will be back and enjoying the more...
