Mama poke bowl — Restaurant in North Carolina

I did not have a good experience here. I requested the 2 protein bowl $11.45 once I got to check out it was almost $14. The staff did not explain what 3 ingredients are free and everything by is an additional charge. Even after I told her I chose one item from each section like the setup display appeared to be broken into sections she said no it’s all one section and 3 toppings is the max. So I overpaid without knowing I was being charged. I won’t be back. Didn’t see her wash her hands. She was not wearing gloves and was talking to other staff members will laughing and breathing on my the open food. I will not be a repeat customer. There are other poke places I visit and enjoy more. I won’t be back! Feel riped off and my bowl is not even full. Such a waste of time and money...

I get takeaway. It is a small space and definitely made more for takeaway than for sitting inside. However, it is absolutely delicious. I get the poke bowls and hibachi and eat the poke bowl one night and hibachi the next. I have tried the existing poke bowls and they were all good. But now I make my own. The portions are good sized, the veggies and meats are fresh and I get a ton of the toppings. I love the hibachi as well and often get the chicken, but the chicken and steak is great!

I eat here once every week to two weeks and have had consistent quality, portions, and service for the many months I have been doing so.

They are fast and I usually grab some groceries from the Harris Teeter right there, grab dinner at Mama Poke...

So we tried Mama Poke today. Hubs got the hibachi chicken, I had a sushi burrito filled with spicy crab, shrimp, edamame, red cabbage and spicy mayo. Service was quick and food was ready in less than ten minutes. The hibachi was piping hot but had zero flavor. The burrito was bland (could be my fault bc I customized mine) but my biggest complaint would be the smell of the burrito. The fishy smell from the nori used to wrap the burrito was so overpowering and almost putrid. I made it through 1/2 of it and couldn’t bare to finish it. I understand it’s the grand opening so I won’t say we hated it, but will probably wait a month or two before...
