First time here and will not return unless I am the token black girl in a predominantly Caucasian group of friends. My family thought we found a gem with a beautiful atmosphere. Only to find out, our dominantly black group was not wanted. We were located on the patio area with no music; we decided to bring our own speaker that you could barely hear unless your 1 foot away. As we were line dancing, other groups decided to migrate towards us and join (which was so much fun, and we made relationships/friendships out of our encounter). I guess the manager walked over and told us to turn the speaker off, no reason given, but if it's our guess it either had to do with the performer inside the establishment singing slow/sad songs and they didn't want the attention away from him? Because the music was not loud, or was the speaker not allowed? No communication as to why we had to turn the speaker off, when we were many feet away from other guests, to not acquire a complaint for noise, other than maybe our voices? They then tell us, we can move into the grass/dirt area to play our music, we were like "okay that works." As soon as we gathered in that area, they turned the lights off but kept surrounding areas well lit (The time was around 11:40pm, last call is not til 12:30am). The bartenders, check in lady and the lady selling cigars were delightful. If I am wrong for the reason to think we were discriminated against because of our skin color, please enlighten me. Otherwise, my views of Napkin...
Read moreAn oasis right off of 95! Let me get the one negative out of the wayâŚFLIES! Itâs outdoor seating w/yummy food and the flies tried to get in on my Brussels! We had to do a lot of swatting & eating. Outside is their turf but maybe some zappers?
Ok, on to the restâŚNapkins is right off of 95 (turn at Bojangles. no preliminary signage so just follow gps) and has lots of open space. There is plenty of parking and the lot was packed (good sign). My kids went straight to the playground. That is so appreciated for folks traveling w/kids. They needed to move! The line at that particular moment was pretty long & didnât move very fast but we were driving about 700m so the standing was a welcome break. We found a table and the wait for the food was no longer than a sit-down restaurant. Well worth the wait. We donât eat meat so we shrimped it up! Buffalo, plain and Thai chili, loaded tots, fries, and Brussels. Our family of 5 shared and were easily filled up but not overdone. The main building is a brewery and there are a good amount of people there just for just beer. Some reviewers didnât like that with kids in-tow but my kids didnât seem to give it a second thought. And smokers were courteous and moved to uncovered area to light up & vape. I canât wait to pass through...
Read moreGreat food option at Dirty Whiskey and Dirtbag with fresh, seasonal options.
It's great to have this option along with all the food trucks that come into the property. The menu is creative and delicious. With the seasonal menu, you can discover new surprises.
Since I've started going to Napkins, I've had items ranging from scotch eggs, poke bowls, schnitzel, hash, seared ahi, brussel sprouts, and filet tips--with the ingredients sometimes being sourced directly from the Sunday Farmer's Market on site. (And I've seen the chef wandering around the market first hand).
It may look like a typical quick to go kiosk at first glance, but the food brings a level of sophistication and creativity that this area needs.
Even on days when I plan to stop at one of the food trucks, I find myself not wanting to miss out on their menu. This...
