Sweet Southern Funk Food Truck — Restaurant in North Carolina

I don't know what happened during my most recent visit, but service speed was not good enough and I was given attitude when I addressed it kindly. There were a few folks in front of me, and I was told that there would be a slight wait to their credit. It's disappointing to wait over a half hour for my food to be prepared watching staff move in slow motion. My time is valuable, and I expect more from this establishment, even considering any difficulties that folks are facing. I've always had better experiences here, so I'm hoping it's a one-off.

I doubt I will come back any time soon honestly, given that when I brought up my frustration, I was lied to by the man working. He said he told me that it would be 25 minutes, when his words were "there are 5 people in front of you". After being frustrated waiting 35 minutes and saying that to him like an adult, not a Karen, he didn't care or apologize, he just excused it saying "we're not a fast service restaurant". We were in the midst of doing errands and realized we were going to by hangry if we didn't eat something. We stopped at the Sweet Southern Funk Food Truck and decided to share the Special, a pulled pork sandwich with homemade Candler BBQ sauce and a cucumber salad and cole slaw. Oh Boy! The BEST pulled pork sandwich I have ever eaten and that's saying something since we've been on a cross-country trip for nearly two years and have sampled them in lots of places. The pork was moist and tender with crispy, smoky edges. It wasn't drowning in sauce. The cucumber salad was so fresh and it wasn't loaded with sugar like so many are. Even the cole slaw was fresh and crunchy and not soggy in mayo. Absolute bliss. Our only regret was that we'd only gotten the one sandwich to share. The pulled pork sandwich is not always on the menu, so get there soon to have a taste. There are a few picnic benches on site and the music playlist is superb, especially if you were a kid in the 80s. Thanks Paul and Rosie! Next on the list...the Sloppy...

Absolutely DISGUSTING sandwiches and sides. The menu is outright lies. My sandwich claimed to come with bacon and peppers and a few other things and instead I got 2 oz of ground beef covered in nacho cheese on a bun. It was inedible. When I complained, they said the bacon and peppers were “chopped up with the beef”. In my kitchen, that’s just called “cooking” not a topping. It was like being served dog food on a bun and was the worst sandwich I’ve ever had. They did bring me the sides that were supposed to be on my sandwich at the end but it was still the most unenjoyable food I’ve eaten in many years.
