Waffle House — Restaurant in North Carolina

We (An African American family of 4) stopped at this location a couple days ago, Wednesday 4/3 about 10:30 am to be more specific. There was two white males in a booth, one white male arriving at the same time and another Hispanic family preparing to leave as we arrived. Another white male arrived shortly after we were seated at the lower counter booths. STAR was working the counter and this African American server was THE WORST! She never spoke, never made eye contact, talked to everyone else like we were not sitting there and the cook even asked her who she was talking to when she was repeating our orders back to us while making a call to the kitchen. She was not attentive and had a nasty ass attitude when dealing with her. STAR obviously hates the fact she works at Waffle House by her demeanor. She did not offer any assistance to us; no drink refills; nothing. The manager on duty was MORE ATTENTIVE to us than STAR ever was. I asked for lightly cooked hashbrowns covered and smothered. Arrived incorrect and asked for new order that was also incorrect. My husband requested the cheesesteak plate and received steak with no cheese.

Positives: We did receive friendly service from the other African American woman on duty and the Manager throughout our time while STAR stood the register with her back turned to us.

ADVICE: Coming from one black woman to another… STAR, reevaluate your choice of career and your unprofessional attitude to paying and tipping customers. You’re being evaluated and potentially interviewed for future opportunities than could come your way. You never know who you are serving and how you impact someone’s experience at this establishment. Waffle House is Waffle House but I don’t have to be served by less than pleasant...

I was 1 of 2 customers in the place at 4:30 on a Sat, until the other person's carryout order was ready. The server was wearing a Taco Bell swearshirt, the bar was dirty (I cleaned my space myself), and there were dishes left on a table from someone who had already left. Even after I got my waffle, the server sat at the table high bar and was on his phone and not once attemptedto clean anything minus removing prep stuff.. A couple of comments from the server: I guess I should remove the prep stuff off the bar (where I was eating) before my boss comes back. 2. I handed him $20 for my $5 bill. He took my $20 and said, "Oh good, I get to keep the change, right?" It was clear that there was no concern for cleanliness as I had to move twice to get to the most decent area. He made other comments seemingly trying to be funny but could have been taken the wrong way had I actually cared. For example, he said, "Well you're a very boring person (becauseI only ordered a waffle)." "Can I get anything else for the old lady? I meant young lady." Then mentioned I ate my waffle like I hadn't eaten in 8 days (he might not have been wrong about that though). This was my first and probably last time at this particular Waffle House, so I don't know if the other employees have an ounce of concern for how they represent their company or if the managers just don't care to enforce acceptable standards and...

My wife and I stopped by about 4:30pm today Sunday16th July 2017 and the service was less than satisfying. First the waitress wiped off our table and left water standing all over it. Then she gave us old coffee while complaining about being a new waitress. And to top it off she gave us a bill for 86 dollars and when we questioned her about it she said we were yelling at her. She checked the bill again and came up with a 76 dollar bill. We finally got another waitress that had came back from working this morning shift, to fix our bill finally... and it was 26 dollars. She was very rude and complained and argued with us!. I asked her to go to the other end of the restaurant... She proceeded to argue with the other waitress,that was trying to fix the messed up bill, until I asked her to go to the other end. This was an awful experience that should have never happened! .The cook was trying to help us and cook too!. When we first arrived ther was the cook and the 1complaining waitress.The table next to us stayed in a mess with dirty plates glasses and uneaten food in the plates Until right before we left... PLEASE... Fix...
