Today, Iâm enjoying coffee at âThe Beanâ in North East Pennsylvania! This is the 24th local coffee shop that Iâve been to in NY and PA. This shop was recently established in 2016, and this community place hosts a number of seasonal and fun events for people to attend. They had a princess tea party a few weeks ago and they even had some live music. Something unique the company did was that they decorated rocks and placed them out in the local area. If someone found one of these, it had a coupon on the back for a free item at the coffee shop! Finally, this hip and happening coffee shop features a number of Instagram hashtags and different ways to communicate with its patrons through social media.
Inside, the place is organized and neat. There are numerous framed burlap bags with witty sayings that you can actually purchase. I love the merchandise here and the atmosphere too. It has the feel of an industrial factory with the pipes overhead; however, the pipes are much smaller than other typical shops and they are painted a rich mahogany to match the vibe of the coffee shop itself.
For the coffee and food itself, many of the products look to be home made. The cinnamon rolls look tasty and the muffins scream yummy as well. The coffee beans are sourced from various farmers from around the world and there are a variety of ways to order your drinks. When talking to the owner, she stressed that this coffee shop should be an âexperience.â She operates this coffee shop and her family is involved as well. Make sure to come out for a cup of coffee and support this amazing...
Read moreWe've been across the country in the past month and have stopped at dozens of cafes and coffee shops. Most are ok, a few are excellent, and some are horrible. This one falls into the latter category. Rude staff that wouldn't provide a receipt (did they tip themselves $100 on the credit card? Hard to know.), beverages that are just plain bad, food that is only fine, and items missing from the order. The ham and egg croissant was so salty it made you have to take a drink of water after every bite, the egg bowl was also too salty and was otherwise uninspiring. The beverages tasted like watered down coffee mixed with outdated milk. Yuck. We had ordered a gluten free bagel with cream cheese, along with an everything bagel with cream cheese...well, there wasn't any cream cheese and the GF bagel looked questionable. Without the cream cheese though, a dry, crusty bagel is wholly unappetizing. After spending an unknown amount at this establishment, and getting things we wouldn't serve our enemies, we sadly have to call this not only a poor overall experience, but a bad place to go for food or coffee. We'd highly recommend that you find another...
Read moreI grabbed coffee and breakfast here several times while staying in North East. It was an easy walk from where we were staying on Main St, and it felt safe and comfortable walking to and from the shop. The coffee is reasonably priced. The smoothies were tasty, especially the watermelon. We also tried their cookies, quiche, and breakfast sandwich- all tasted good and like they were made in house. I gave them a 3 out of 5 for food because they did not have any gluten free desserts, so my friend wasnât limited to getting a gluten free bagel. I recommend recommend adding more gluten free friendly items, especially baked goods, since gluten intolerance and allergies are common. The barista also wasnât able to definitively state if certain items contained nuts, which Iâm allergic to, and seemed unreceptive to asking for verification- I just got something else. Having an ingredients list, especially for items made it house, is vital to providing the best possible service when helping customers navigate food allergies and other dietary restrictions, which can be frustrating to have to ask about in the...
