I was recommended this place as well as my wife from her friends. We rarely get a chance to get out without the kids, so we finally got a baby sitter and were excited to try a new place. Our reservation was at 6pm 12-12-15. We were greeted by a charming woman right away and seated promptly. Our waitress Haley ( I believe) was quite pleasant also and bubbly. The place is a renovated bank apparently and looked wonderful inside. My wife and I both ordered the cheese plank (with ricotta cheese) appetizer, was okay. We were also given warm bread with an oil dipping sauce. For our entree we both ordered the Filet ($38) a piece and I ordered the shrimp (as recommended by chef on menu for an extra $9) I ordered mine medium and wife ordered hers medium well. When our food arrived my wife had to send hers back in for more cooking. Both steaks both came a top a brown wine gravy sauce which absolutely was the most bland sauce I have ever had, I NEVER salt my food and had to salt this steak. My wife asked for A1 sauce and our waitress smiled and pleasantly said "the chef does not believe in A1". Well he certainly doesn't believe in flavoring his food either. Vegetables we ordered had no flavor or sauce on them either. My shrimp was fine and the mashed potatoes were tasty. I found that when we got our plates we were given butter knives to cut our steak with? I found this very odd, perhaps the chef also doesn't believe in steak knives. Perhaps he was trying to show how tender his steaks were, which they certainly were tender, he had that going for him. For desert we ordered 1 piece of the regular cheese cake which came highly recommended and THAT did live up to the hype. Was very creamy and delicious. All in all we walked out of there with a $100 bill + a $20 dollar tip for our waitress. We would go back but we will not be ordering their steak, I would go to Texas Roadhouse for steak and perhaps go there for just a slice...
Read moreMy partner and I had been wanting to try this place for months, after seeing the billboard Best burger, on our trips home from New York. We finally did Friday evening. My partner did get a burger and I also had intended on getting a burger, however there were only two to choose from, with a third being a pork belly burger. Instead, the chicken and gnocchi entree caught my eye and so that’s what I ordered. First the positives: this place was clean and the atmosphere was very upscale for a tavern. Our server was friendly and attentive, to the point of almost filling my sprite glass with water, when she saw the glass was almost empty. The cons: there are not really any accommodations for shellfish allergy. I had wanted an appetizer, however, I was advised by our server that all of them were fried with the shrimp. For claiming best burger, you’d definitely expect more than two burgers. They are very thin, similar to smash burgers. They are cooked well done and were dry. The sauce on the burger tasted foul. My partner tried to wipe it off, but it had saturated the bun. The pickles, I’m guessing they make homemade, still tasted like cucumbers as if they had not been pickled long enough. The best part of the meal was the chicken, which they baked, due to the shellfish allergy( it is normally fried the server advised) was moist and pull apart. Thankfully, the chicken was good, because the gnocchi was crunchy and dry on the inside. The sauce was very bland, like it didn’t have any seasoning. We aren’t the type to send things back, we pay for the meal we order, whether we like it or not. No fuss, especially during a busy dinner time. Hopefully, this is seen as constructive feed back. This place has amazing reviews, but just seems it fell short of the high expectations we had set...
Read moreI absolutely loved this place and have been SEVERAL times. We had just left a wedding reception at gravel pit that had food but it was alcohol free. we had out of town family w us at our table of 9 and they were the bride and groom. we came to just have drinks bc we don't see eachother often! we were at the bar where my bf ordered an app and the rest of us had cocktails. we decided to move outside so we cld all talk to eachother a little easier. ALL of us had cocktails. after about 2 hrs our very sweet server informs us that we have to order food or leave....we were just at a wedding reception and were not hungry. it's not like we were just sitting there drinking water and cheap beer. our first tab at the bar was over 100 dollars (we bought a round along w our own drinks). 4 of us in the group work in the service industry ourselves and found it bizarre to be forced to order food when the drinks are pricey enough. and as mentioned, we ordered an app earlier at the bar and had just came back from a wedding reception. we werent belligerent (one of us is a loud talker but that's it). forcing ppl to buy food after we already did AND between the 9 of us spent God only knows how much on cocktails? nah. our server was very sweet about it but it definitely didn't fly w the 9 of us and we won't be back unfortunately. we tipped very generously being in the service industry ourselves and spent at least 200 bucks, possibly more( just my bill) pretty bummed about the...
