I tried this place due to the great reviews. Overall, this restaurant wasn't bad. The sushi was good. They don't overdo the rice in their sushi and rolls. The quality was good, and the specialty rolls were good as well! The reason for a 3 star is because for $32 a person for AYCE, you would imagine either Sashimi on the menu or at least AYCE Sushi. This place does NOT offer AYCE Sashimi, and the Sushi is limited to 10 per person, MAX. It just seems so ingenuine and sly to offer AYCE, but it comes with a ton of caveats and limitations. Additionally, the majority of their specialty rolls are made from spicy tuna, which don't get me wrong, is good, but the fact they don't have a lot of variety that includes eel, salmon or other fish cuts is saddening. Also, Kani and Seaweed Salads cost extra, and the menu doesn't have any dessert options (that costs extra as well)... You can tell this restaurant is clearly min-maxing their margins, which is a huge turn-off. If you're looking for strictly rolls at a higher than average price point, this place is okay. I just really don't like the fact they don't have Sashimi, and they limit Sushi, which is pretty much the whole reason why a lot of ppl go to Sushi Restaurants... In my opinion, you can definitely get more variety/options with similar quality at a cheaper price elsewhere. Definitely won't be coming back here unless they put Sashimi on their menu that is actually AYCE.

We came here on a Saturday night. Ordered appetizers which were pretty good. Then we ordered the sushi. Sushi came pretty quick and looked really good. We ended up getting traditional and special rolls. What I loved about their rolls was you could taste the different flavors of the sushi unlike other all you can eat restaurants where everything tastes the same. The fish was fresh tender and tasted good. They have a large selection of special rolls. Yellowtail and scallion roll was tasty but when we asked for our yellowtail peices of sushi they informed us that they ran out. It’s obvious the restaurant takes pride in the presentation of everything from the salad to sushi. Always more enjoyable with a beautiful presentation. It’s a nice cozy atmosphere which was enjoyable and staff was courteous and attentive. Unfortunately dessert is not included but no worries because as we walked to our car we noticed the ice creamery just a few stores down which was amazing and satisfied our sweet tooth.

This is the only AYCE sushi place I go to anymore when visiting North Jersey. They have incredible ayce appetizers like miso soup, dumplings, fried spicy salmon, tempura, salad with tuna, tempura style tuna, etc, and the rolls that they make are colorful, creative, quality and delicious!! Our favorites are the NY Giants roll and the redhot. There are some drawbacks regarding the smallness of the place and the weird smells emanating from outside, but I would never let that get in my way. This place is incredible and every time we add up our ayce totals as if we ordered off the fixed menu, we are always WELL over $100 each!!! I highly recommend.

The only thing that is saving this review from 1-star is the consistent good quality of the food. I am very disappointed at my experience at Arigato in North Haledon. Just an FYI, I am a long-time customer of this restaurant and have always had a good experience. Tonight, however, was very different.

The service was horrible. Our waitress was not on top of checking in on us to see what we needed; it felt like we had to chase her down the whole time we were there from filling our drinks, to asking for a sheet to get more sushi, to requesting the bill. The time it took to prepare the food was also inexcusable; we waited about a half hour each time we ordered more sushi! The place was not even crowded. To top it all off, the waitress had the gall to charge my party gratuity saying that parties of 4 or more are required (how convenient for her!). Frustrated is an understatement. I will definitely think twice about coming here and warning those in my social circle about this experience. I would hope management can make things...
