This place is a headache to navigate. No table service and long lines to order. On a busy day, you can wait in line for a half hour or more just to get to the counter and order a beer.
It's also totally disorganized. They have wait staff who can't take any orders. Not for food or beer anyway. All they can do is run orders to the table and get you water. Maybe another fork, if you're lucky.
If you have kids, don't bring them here. It's a disaster. They'll spend a lifetime waiting for a cup of milk or a peanut butter sandwich, and they'll get super cranky in the process. That said, you'll still find plenty of families there, the unwitting parents finding out the hard way.
I honestly can't figure out who this place is for. It's terrible for families. There doesn't seem to be a bunch of young professionals there to meet up, or meet someone new. Not that the environment is conducive to having a conversation anyway. Basically, it seems like they're primarily a brewery and the restaurant is an afterthought.
Go and find out for yourself, because it's probably worth it to visit once to satisfy your curiosity. But best bets are that you'll walk away feeling like the restaurant is just a marketing gimmick, designed to promote their beers.
The food is OK, but not great. It's definitely over priced. They try too hard to be interesting in their menu. Everything sounds good. You'll think, "I never thought of making that dish like that." But the only ingredient they forgot was flavor. Everything is bland.
This place just isn't worth the hassle,...
Read moreThe beer is excellent, and the food is truly farm-to-table and tastes home-cooked. The ordering experience can be a challenge, if you're not expecting a hippy-commune type experience, it can be a shock to not have table service and to have to bring your order scorecard up to the bar to order.
The brewery workers are right by the dining room, discussing their next batches and working to make their delicious beers. You really feel like you're in an old time family brewery where they've set up a table just for you to try their latest batch. Their enthusiasm for beer is catching.
When I say the food tastes home cooked, I really mean it. With the truly farm-to-table fresh ingredients (you can literally see the ingredients growing in the field outside the dining room) you will taste every iota of flavor, but with the right ingredients you could make these dishes at home. I honestly expected to look into the kitchen and see a team of grandmothers preparing their family dishes.
The reason only three stars: One point for difficulty of ordering. If they just had a traditional ordering/table service system it would go a long way to making this more comfortable. One point for missed marketing. We went expecting a brew pub experience, with comfort foods like burgers and steaks and wings. This place is anything but that, it's a small batch, farm-to-table, local, sustainable,...
Read moreWent here yesterday around 4 o'clock. Parking lot was full and there was a long line of people waiting to check in with the host for what i assumed were the tables. Like most restaurants/breweries, being alone and just ordering a beer, I went to the bar and waited to catch the bartender's attention. She asked me if I wanted something, I told her I just wanted to order a beer and grab a seat at the bar, and she said to "go get in line and order from that guy" (pointing to the host).
A bit unorthodox, but I went to the back of the line and eventually spoke to the very nice older gentleman and was about to order a beer. An older short woman approached and asked what I was doing and why I was holding up the line and delaying people waiting for tables, I told her the bartender directed me here and here I came. She told me to order at the bar next time, and if I had just waited outside there would have been a server out there eventually... Well I got my beer and went outside to drink by myself, feeling unwelcome. The beer itself (the hefeweisen) was pretty terrible, with some sort of spice I associate with Christmas ales in it. I couldn't finish it and left. Very poor impression and...
