Nick's Char Pit — Restaurant in North Haven

Ordered a combination plate for $42.00 and it only came with one piece of fish and only 4 shrimp plus clam… I called back to tell the guy that I only had one piece of fish and only 4 shrimps and he said that’s all it come with and that they were the cheapest for that plate around and I said know your not and he hung up in my face very rudely. Now before this election I had been going there for over 20 years never had a problem till now and this was their response. Kevin seafood for $38.00 will give plenty of fish about 10 shrimps and a lot more. They did refund my money without me asking. I would have preferred and apology for the rude behavior rather than money back so I can be respected as a customer of a long time and continue to do business by rectify the problem. Instead, no courtesy return call just one day $40 showed up on my card as a refund from them. So as of now, I will never go back to do business there and if you notice that people have changed after the election I would advise not supporting...

Initially found this location to try their lobster roll. I read in the reviews that this is one of the best spots in the area to find one. I ordered the lobster roll, lobster bisque, steak sandwich, fish sandwich, hamburger with sweet potato fries and a strawberry milkshake for the family. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal although a few mentioned it was a bit too greasy for them. Of all the menu items we ordered, I was overall surprisingly impressed with the lobster bisque! You will find lobster...yes lobster in the lobster bisque! I want to confirm also that the size of the lobster roll is more than expected so I was pleased with the value I received. I did request a few slices of lemon to go with my lobster roll which is a must for me when enjoying my favorite seafood. If Nick's Char Pit can make their lobster roll a bit healthier, I will be back! Great job to the whole staff...

Great food but will no longer be returning on weekends! The most bizarre thing happened last night. I walk in to a line of customers who were just standing & waiting around because the workers told them they were not taking orders at the moment and that the cook needed to “catch up” first. I’m sorry? But when a restaurant is busy, it’s busy! Yes it may take longer for my food to be prepared. That’s completely understandable. But you still have to take the order! You don’t just make paying customers stand around until you decide it’s a good time to take their order. So bizarre! That is also a very rude way to greet a customer that walks in. “We’re not taking orders right now.” Next time how about something along the lines of “we’re very busy at the moment so it may take longer than usual for your meal to be ready, but what can we get started for you?” Love you Nick’s but wow!
