The Culinary Gods Themselves Must Work Here!
I recently had the unparalleled pleasure of dining here, and let me tell you—this isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a portal to another dimension where flavor reigns supreme, and time moves at light speed.
From the moment I walked through the doors, I felt as if I had been transported to a culinary utopia. Before I even had time to fully sit down, a server appeared, seemingly materializing out of thin air, like a ninja dedicated to gastronomy. I hadn’t even decided what I wanted when I felt a gentle breeze—the menu was already in my hands!
Let’s talk about speed. The service here defies the laws of physics. I kid you not, I placed my order, blinked, and my food was already on the table. I suspect they have a chef in the back who can literally see the future. How else can you explain food so perfectly cooked and arriving so fast? It was as if the wok was powered by the core of the Earth itself. NASA should be taking notes because these people know how to move at the speed of light.
And then there’s the food. Oh, the food! One bite and I was convinced that the chefs had been trained by ancient Chinese sages who spent centuries mastering the art of flavor. The General Tso’s chicken? I’m pretty sure it was kissed by a dragon before being served to me. The fried rice was so good I almost wrote it a love letter. And the dumplings? I have reason to believe they are the very dumplings that inspired the concept of heaven.
Each dish was an explosion of flavor so intense that I momentarily forgot where I was. My mouth was doing the cha-cha while my soul was ascending to the astral plane. The kung pao chicken made me feel like I could run a marathon, climb Mount Everest, and write a bestselling novel all in one day.
The portions? Generous isn’t even the word. They brought out enough food to feed a small village, yet it was so delicious I considered ordering seconds, thirds, and maybe a lifetime subscription. If you told me they had a secret pact with a farm that produces infinite ingredients, I would believe you.
The staff? They’re not just servers—they’re culinary angels. They don’t walk; they glide. They don’t speak; they serenade. I think one of them even read my mind and brought out an extra side of sweet-and-sour sauce before I could ask.
My final thoughts? Taste Place isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a divine experience, a symphony of flavor, and a masterclass in speed. If I could give it a million stars, I would. Forget five stars; this place deserves its own galaxy. I am now their most loyal disciple, spreading the gospel of Taste Place to anyone who will listen.
Run, don’t walk. Go now. Your taste buds will thank you for the rest...

Dining here was nothing short of extraordinary. This isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a gateway to another realm where flavor rules and time seems to accelerate beyond comprehension.
The moment I stepped through the doors, I felt transported to a gastronomic paradise. Before I even settled into my seat, a server appeared like a culinary ninja, placing the menu in my hands as if by magic.
Now, about the service. It’s not just fast—it’s otherworldly. I swear, I placed my order, blinked, and the food was on the table. It’s as though the chef has the power to see the future or harness the energy of the Earth’s core. NASA could learn a thing or two about efficiency from this place.
And the food? Oh, the food! Each bite felt like a masterpiece crafted by ancient masters of flavor. The General Tso’s chicken tasted as if it had been blessed by mythical creatures. The fried rice was so good it belonged in poetry, and the dumplings were pure, unadulterated perfection—surely celestial in origin.
Every dish was an explosion of flavor so intense it left me momentarily dazed. The kung pao chicken made me feel invincible, as though I could conquer the world right after dessert.
And the portions? Let’s just say they’re borderline legendary. I was served enough food to host a feast, and yet I was tempted to order more because it was that good. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have an endless farm hidden somewhere.
The staff? Forget servers—they’re culinary guardians. They don’t just bring food; they anticipate your needs like mind readers. One even delivered extra sweet-and-sour sauce before I realized I wanted it.
Final verdict? This isn’t just a meal; it’s a divine encounter, a celebration of flavor, and a lesson in flawless service. If I could award it a galaxy of stars, I would. This place has turned me into a devoted follower, and I’ll be preaching the good word of Taste Place to everyone I meet.
Don’t wait—go. Your taste buds will be...
Read moreBest authentic Chinese food in the Iowa City area! I’m especially happy because this is the same restaurant I used to eat at when I lived in Ames. They unfortunately closed in Ames, but reopened here! Everyone we brought was satisfied with the dishes and we were all very happy about this new Chinese place in town.
Ordered: -Hot and Sour soup: Great dish to start with. Had great umami flavor and was not too sour. -Mu Xu pork: Pork, eggs, cucumbers, and Woodear mushroom in this dish. Delicious. The eggs had a beautiful silky texture. -Yu-Shiang eggplant with garlic sauce: It was a fan favorite. -Stewed fish in chili sauce: velvety fish that holds onto just the right flavors of the sauce. The spicy oils might be intimidating, but it actually wasn’t spicy. -Fried Chicken with Cumin: Wasn’t too impressed by this dish, but it’s because we thought it would be deep fried chicken. This dish is great for someone that really likes cumin. -Beef with Potatoes in Curry Sauce: Soft braised beef and perfectly cooked potatoes in a rich savory sauce. -Hot and Spicy chicken (purchased on a different day): good flavors but the dish uses boneless chicken. Only slightly crunchy due to the sauce. -Dry pot (purchased on a different day) great base to start with and you can add basically whatever you want in it! Price can add up quickly though.
Would I return?: Yes! We are definitely going to...
