We have been going here for over a year now. They have a large variety of seafood. They do get busy at times. That's not a bad thing. A few weeks ago we got 4 pounds of steamed shrimp. Seasoned to perfection. They were even peeled for us! They were perfect for making homemade shrimp salad. The only reason we are giving 4 stars is because of the service that day. On the door its says everyone needs to wear a mask. Which is the responsible thing to do during this pandemic. It helps protect customers and employees. We were very happy and relieved. We felt very safe to go in. But after we were in there standing in line, we noticed the guy behind the counter working with his mask down. We were hoping he wouldn't be the one to assist us with our order. At one point he glance over and I nicely pointed at my mask to remind him to pull it up. He kept on moving. Finally we were called up by the other gentleman behind the counter. He had his mask all the way over his nose and mouth. Thank goodness. When our order was ready we went over to the right side of the register and quickly moved over to the left register. The young guy on the left register had his mask hanging below his nose. Pulled it down to talk to another employee and pulled it back up but still not over his nose. The young lady on the right register had her mask on the correct way and kept it up. Although everyone may not feel fearful of catching the virus, we practice safety to help protect others. If a business puts a note on the door saying everyone wears a mask than they should make sure all employees follow the same guidelines. It sends a mixed message and it doesn't seem like those employees care. We will continue to shop here for seafood but will wait awhile until after...

Just moved to the area and were looking for a new fish monger. Platt's came up during a search, the reviews looked good, so we gave them a try. We chose them because of their variety of fresh/frozen fish. I cook a lot and we do not go out to eat much and Platt's looked like a good place to frequent? First trip we bought a pound of "Scottish Salmon" that smelled great and was wonderful, the best we have eaten, after slow roasting it with fennel fronds, lemon zest, black garlic infused EVOO, butter and lemon slices. Next time was a pound of shrimp, though frozen/thawed it was still fresh smelling. It will be broiled with black garlic EVOO, and a seasoned salt mixture, dipped into homemade cocktail sauce, served with spinach soufflé and corn on the cob. Yummy... After going to Platts 2-3 times a week for the last month I started to notice an attitude from some of the guys behind the fresh fish counter. No thank you when you were done, me asking for a pound of salmon, getting a pound and a quarter, my wife saying she can't eat that much, and he bags it up anyway and doesn't care? Poor customer service. Some of the fish is trimmed poorly, waste that you have to pay for. The Cajun crab salad is very inconsistent, though good when they get it right. Give Platt's a try but be leary, they don't seem to care about repeat customers, just the easy score from tourist's, or first time buyers. We'll be looking for more friendly sources from now on, not the only...

First, this place is a real gem and we will definitely be back. I have never been anywhere else on earth where I could pick out the exact size and weight of shrimp I wanted one sec, and have a pound of them fresh, hot, and fried a second later.

Literally all of a five minute wait (noon on a Wednesday) before our food was in-hand.

The shrimp was sweet and clean tasting. The fries were absolutely killer - crispy and lightly breaded. You know the kind I mean. And we didn’t get any but the key lime pie and hush puppies looked amazing too.

We have since tried their steamed grouper (delicious), steamed lobster tails (the best I've ever had.... $12.99 for the 4 ounce ones at the time of this review and $25 for the 9 ounce ones). It's become super clear that this is as good if not better than anywhere you could pay $50-100 a plate for, at a much fairer price. No frills about this place and you'll take it to go, but you will be happy for sure.

They also had everything you needed for a cookout or boil. From the pots and utensils to seasoning, hot sauces, and sides. We picked up some slap ya momma seasoning, because we’d always wanted to try it. They even had a good selection of Asian sauces that can be hard to find, like oyster sauce.

They had the full range of Duplin wines too, so it was nice to see that local representation.

Definitely a treat we’ll...

Platts Seafood is a local spot offering a variety of seafood options. We decided to try their lunch menu mahi and fries, and while the fish itself was decent, the overall experience was a bit underwhelming. The mahi strips were cooked well, with a firm texture and a soft breading. The fish itself had a nice flavor, but the breading was a bit average. The accompanying French fries were plentiful, but unfortunately, they were greasy and lacked crispiness. Finally, the hushpuppies were small and unremarkable. While Platts Seafood may be a convenient option for a quick seafood fix, the quality of the food could be improved. If you're looking for a more satisfying seafood experience, you might want to explore other options in the area.

We love Platts Seafood and often stop here on the way out of town to go to North Carolina. They will steam your shrimp while you wait. We get medium seasoning and it turns out just perfect. We also love their homemade slaw. The store has anything you can think of seafood wise and also condiment wise. They have plenty of selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. The other side of this door has Frozen seafoods and appliances that you may need. They even have a rack of clothing. Friendly staff as well. We will continue to be loyal customers.
