A repeat customer for years UNTIL TODAY!!
Ordered two cotton candy blizzards and asked for just a little less mix that they use to make it. Usually, made just right but today, the server made it with WAY less mix instead of just a little less. We werenât enjoying our blizzards. Was mostly Ice cream. I rarely complain or return food, but I just wasnât enjoying it. So I went back to the counter and explained my situation. A different server took my ice creams and said she had to get her manager to solve the issue. Her manager came out and said âbecause you already ate some, there is nothing I can do with theseâ and gave them back to me, melting away. âThe only thing I can do is give you a small cup Of the sprinkles we use for the mixture.â I was surprised they couldnât just make me another one. I agreed to the solution and the manager went and got me a small container of sprinkles. When she brought them to me she said âIâm sorry, but my manager said I have to charge you for these sprinkles.â âAre you joking?â I said. âWhy would I have to do that? Itâs just a tiny bit of what you use and I used my last 3 dollars to tip the guy who made it. You canât make an exception?â âIâm sorry, I canât. I can get my manager if you want?â How many mangers work here!!!??? I thought. I told her to go get him/her. Of course her manager refused to talk to me. I apparently didnât deserve his/her time. I wasnât about to continue to argue with the staff and beg for sprinkles. God knows what they were going to charge me for them too!! I said âyou lost a customer then!â And walked away and wonât return. Ice cream was all melted by then and I was beside myself at how they treated me!
I decided to go home and call the owner. left a message and she called me back and pretty much scolded me for asking to fix my ice creams. âWe make our blizzards a certain way and you asked for less. And I donât get why you felt embarrassed about the situation?â My fiancĂ© got on the phone and Tried to stick up for me, saying âwe are repeat customers and spend money and always tip your servers. She said âsir, I donât want to talk to you.â And said we need to stop yelling at her, which we werenât. Then she hung up on us.
This is how you are treated by the staff and managers at the North Reading Dairy Queen. I suggest not wasting your money and time waiting in ridiculously long lines and give the ice cream place place up the road your business instead. They are friendlier there and value...

Itâs really a shame that the owner of this specific Dairy Queen is extremely mean, and unforgiving .We have been regular customers for years, and the customer service is one of the worst I think I could say Iâve ever experienced in my life. One would think you would have a good experience getting ice cream on a regular basis because itâs a fun thing to do, but you never know what type of treatment youâre going to get at This Dairy Queen specifically... I could go on in more detail about every single experience, but I want everyone to know the owner of this Dairy Queen is the meanest person Iâve ever met in my life at any type of food and beverage place in the industry EVER!!!!
Do not ask for anything special or a favor, or you will be scolded and treated horribly by the owner of this Dairy Queen. They had made a mistake on something I ordered, and I asked for it to be replaced or just fixed without any cost on her end ,and I got the 3rd degree By management, and the owner. The employees are all walking on egg shells so afraid of this owner itâs sad to watch .. If the owner of the store was a judge, principal, or worked in any authoritarian position, I would be in great fear..
There are very nice people right down the street thatâs an ice cream shop / Mini golf place called BFM Driving range and ice creams . Itâs only a football field away, and they deserve everyoneâs business because itâs family-owned, friendly staff and a very good ice cream. No long lines either. Your business would be appreciated much more there as well..
Please do not wait in long lines at this Dairy Queen and just go 100 yards away ; because your business is not appreciated. Please trust me on this, and thank you ....

   Read moreI am a HUGE fan of DQ, but I will NEVER go back to the North Reading location. I ordered a blizzard tonight and it was made incorrectly. No big deal, right? They will just make another one as I ordered it. Not happening in North Reading!!! I was told they would make another blizzard, but I would have to pay for it. What??? It what universe does this make any sense. The customer orders something, the business makes a mistake and does it incorrectly, but the customer not only pays for the incorrect one, but has to pay again to get it right??? I was told that this was the manager's policy. THE MANAGER SHOULD BE FIRED!!!!! I left without a blizzard and informed the staff that I would not be back to their reply of "that's okay."
