We went on a mini vacation for Memorial Day weekend with friends and decided on this spot Sunday for lunch before heading to the beach. When we went inside the hostess every loudly (where everyone started to stare) stated that I needed to wear a cover up or hoody otherwise they couldn’t seat us inside. I was wearing a non-revealing tankini top with shorts no different then a tank top for shorts. (Mind you there was people being sat inside with swimsuit attire and risqué coverups) I then answered her stating I didn’t have any. She then replied that we could purchase some of their merchandise in order to meet their standards or we could eat outside. My husband politely replied that we would eat outside and then once we got out there tried to make me feel better cause he knew I was upset. This is the first time I have ever been singled out because I am a female, and I had a tankini top on. In my opinion, it’s unprofessional to be sexist when owning a business if you do it for one, you need to do it for all. Unfortunately, they were allowing men to wear swim trunks, but women weren’t permitted to be inside unless they had a cover-up. As we sat outside, we watched multiple people being indoors with swim attire, such as bikinis or risqué coverups that you could see everything underneath. We finally had a drink order taken after sitting for at least 15 to 20 minutes. It did take us a little bit longer to decide on what we want to eat, but at least our drinks came out within five minutes of making the drink order once we receive our food my husband, then pointed out to the hostess that multiple women and men were being seated with swimsuits. Specifically, there was two girls sat with bikini tops. She then acted very annoyed of us like we were a nuisance, and then replied that she didn’t seat them that’s probably why. However, if it is your company’s policy, all employees should be following that policy, but regardless, after that, she had told the girls that they need to cover up or leave. They left and they were just as upset as I was when I originally went in, even though I wasn’t dressed as risqué. After that, we did not receive good service at all. My husband consistently had to keep asking for things from people that were coming out to see others or give others food, and it was even so bad to the point that he had to go ask for the checks because we have been waiting a good 20 minutes just to get the check. So if you intend to go to the beach after you eat, I do not recommend eating at beach bums, pizza bar, and Grill. I will say the pizza was the best thing that we ordered by far, even though they forgot to substitute the green peppers for black olives. The rest of the food was subpar at most highly recommend eating...
Read moreI wouldnt recomend this place unless you are a local. The service was subpar, the food was not that good, soda was flat, and let me tell you our story. We went here for dinner with 14 people spent over $500 in food then two of the local drunk (not only on alcohol, but sitting on the patio with illegal substances) decided they were going to tell people from our group they had to leave and called them MFers so the DJ could set up. These were the last of our group and would have already left over 30 minutes prior but were waiting for debit cards to be brought back (again subpar service). I happened to tell these ladies that we would not be leaving until we had our credit cards back and that she really shouldn't call people names. They then caused a a big stink in the bar where an employee came over. We asked for management (we still have not received our debit cards) management said they would talk to the local ladies we said please do. He then back tracked and said he wasn't as they went there all the time. The rest of our group walks up and we told management that this was our first trip here all 14 of us and none us would be back. ( finally get debit card back)Then with a stutter he then says no no no we want you to come back we will give you 10 % off next time. No thank you. We will take our business where we are appreciated and treated as a customer by staff and other customers. Sorry Beach Bums Gril & bar. Your loss as we make multiple trips a year (10 to 15) with between 5 to 20 people and we frequent the good restraints multiple times each trip. (And we all still tipped our wait staff we dont stiff them just because of subpar service as anyone can have a bad night) I now have to edit this post and ask that you please read how the owner has replied. This is a public relations approved response to mask the truth of the situation. I would think that illegal substances used on the property alone would be enough to warrant these locals being banned. Nothing should have had to be addressed with our party.. if the service had been what it should have been then we would have already left. If the locals didn't feel entitled to run the business for staff then they wouldnt have approached us. Also this is the only negative review I have ever written in 40 years. So that alone should tell you how bad this...
Read moreSo, let me start with this place has the absolute best cheese steak in town and the food is delicious. I will say that my visit was on Mothers Day and it was busy. However, I felt like my waitress was a bit lack luster. It took a full hour to get our four cheese steaks and one kids ckn meal ( kids meal wasnt ready with the chzstks and came out a few minutes later) no big deal, keep in mind it was super busy more guests then seats, so late food was not surprising or upsetting. Beach Bums is the best chzstk in town, so we were prepared to wait, and it was worth it! However, our waitress did not refill our waters or sodas during this hour or check on us. The expo girl did come out a few times and let us know we were not forgotten and they were working on our food. About 45 mins after ordering, our appetizers came out, and we were hopeful for refills on our drinks? We felt bad for the overwhelmed kitchen staff but the waitstaff seemed to be cutting up with each other instead of tending tables, as a former restaurant employee I didnt want to come off rude and interupt the staff conversing to ask for more water or diet Pepsi. We got our food, it was fantasic as expected and served by the expo girl not our waitress so we didnt want to bother for drinks and tipped like it was mothers day, and we had a great lunch because, regardless of drink refills, these ladies and gentlemen were running their thighs off and our food was delicious. Overall I think as summer comes in the staff will get more cohesive and the whole experience will be top notch...
