Upon arriving, we noted a sign on the front window that clearly stated: “No animals allowed except for service animals.” In full compliance with that policy and federal law, we entered with our registered service animals. Despite this, we were immediately confronted by a staff member who rolled her eyes and told us they were not service animals. When we pointed to the sign, she dismissed our explanation.
The owner then came out and asked us to leave with the dogs, despite our reiteration that they are trained and registered service animals under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). At no point were we asked the legally permitted questions under the ADA—namely, whether the dog is a service animal required because of a disability, and what work or task the dog has been trained to perform. Instead, we were met with judgment and an apparent misunderstanding of the law.
We are extremely disappointed by this discriminatory treatment and the refusal to comply with the federal protections granted to individuals with service animals. We respectfully request that your staff receive proper training on the ADA and service animal rights to ensure that future customers are not unlawfully denied access.

The cashier and other staff members were polite and glad to tell us which items were handmade, so my wife and I could pick ourselves special treats. The kids loved the ice creams! Everything looked great they had trouble deciding. The chocolate covered pretzels were supposed to be a "later" treat and did not make them home, the kids thought they were too good to wait for. Kids also had fun building their own pixie sticks. This is a great place to stop before a long ride home, thank you again for the...
Read moreCame in yesterday and asked if they had any dairy-free ice cream. She said the sherbert type was. So I got my kid a scoop... My kid has a pretty bad dairy allergy. Guess what? Turns out it wasn't dairy free.... Hives, sneezing, congestion, nausea, puffy eyes. Scrambled to find kid's Benadryl the next town over, then a trip to urgent care a different town over, and topped off the evening with picking up prednisone. A 2 and a half hour ordeal... I guess shame on me for not prying more, but I assume allergen questions are common in a food shop, and I assumed the woman knew what she was talking about as there was no hesitation on her part. If you're not sure, then tell me that. If you need to check, please do. I asked for a reason... Needless to say, I was very, very...
