Our server was Tracy. This the second time she serves us. The first time was on her first day at the diner and she complained about her other customers to us.
Today, she made no eye contact when we were ordering our food. I had to ask for brown sugar twice and when she finally brought it, she acted like it was a bother. My husband asked for hot sauce and when she brought it she placed it in the table, again, as if it was a bother. My husband placed his empty coffee cup at the edge of the table, a sign I believe every server knows the customer is signaling for a refill, but she walked past our table 4 times before she finally asked if he wanted more coffee. Although my cup was not at the edge of the table, it was half full, but she did not ask if I wanted more. Although I wanted more, I didn't ask for more because I didn't want to go through the whole brown sugar request again. Not once did she approach our table to ask if we needed anything else or if everything was ok or how the food was.
I observed her take another table's order, she made eye contact, smiled and said "your welcome" joyfully when a customer of that table thanked her. With us? She grumbled you're welcome. The members of that table were of a different ethnicity.
We observed her take the newly washed silverware out of the containers they were in to place them in different containers and touch the part of the utensils that goes in the mouth with her hands, rather than pick them up from the handle side. I would think a server should know to pick up a utensil from the handle.
She cleared our table and we waited for the check, for 20 minutes. She didn't even walk past our table. What was she doing? She gave the check to the table that I mentioned previously, she joyfully greeted 2 ladies that came in with a service animal (also of a different ethnicity), she took more utensils out to place them in different containers, she went into the kitchen, she cleaned the aforementioned table, she messed with the utensils again. Since we got tired of waiting, we got up and went to the cashier to pay. While walking towards the cashier, I observed her taking a phone order. When she was done, she threw the phone on the counter rather than handing it to the host...his ethnicity? Same as ours. When we got to the cashier, I told the host we waited for 20 minutes for a check that never came at which point she promptly appeared attempting to provide it but by that time the host had already pulled it up.
We considered not leaving a tip, however we still did, although not the normal amount we leave. My husband worked at a restaurant and is very much aware of how hard the servers work but even in this case, we couldn't justify leaving a larger tip.
I do recommend this diner but if you go, you may want to ask for a...
Read moreThis place lost my future business. There are plenty of better diners in the Lehigh Valley to visit. I used to like coming here for breakfast or late night dinner, but too many bad experiences in the past few weeks turned a great diner into a terrible place.
Last night, we had a group of 3. It says online and through Google they are open until 10:00pm. We showed up at 8:45pm and right when we entered the door, the manager waved his hand and rudely said we couldn't sit down because they are closed. We saw two groups of people leave the diner as we approached and about 8 workers standing there not doing anything. Schneckville Diner- if you want to close at 9:00pm, that is fine. Just don't advertise that you are open until 10:00pm.
Prior to this, they FAILED a health inspection report and the whole restaurant was closed for a period of time at the end on 2018. Obviously management is doing something wrong and not correcting it.
If I could give 0 or .5 Stars I would. There are plenty of other options in the area. If you are passing through the Lehigh Valley, I would recommend going elsewhere. Trivet Diner(Allentown), Perkins(Allentown), Back Home Bagel(excellent and located in Schnecksville).
As a side note, I would also rank their prices on the higher side for a diner. This just adds to my low...
Read moreDon't know if they changed hands again but our experience on July 19th was not a good one. We have frequented this place for many years so this was very very disappointing. To begin with there was garbage on the floor and through out the restaurant as well as dirty dishes piled up waiting to go to the kitchen. Many tables were not cleaned. Table service was poor and our waitress actually disappeared at one point that the other staff had to go look for her. There were flies in the dining room everywhere that we had to constantly swat away from our food. The wait time for our food was quite longer than usual. The Veal Parm was burned and dry and the steak with the Seaside Black Diamond Steak was supposed to be medium rare and was very well done and dry. Also the steak meat tasted sour and after I got home I was sick and in the bathroom all night. They were out of Butter Pecan ice cream so Chocolate was ordered and that didn't taste right either. What a shame! We truly enjoyed eating at this establishment over the years and it was in our top 5. So sad to say it will no longer be in our list of favorite...
