They do not take bulling seriously. the culinary arts program is living hell for students. if you want your kids to have no encouragement in a school setting that will do it for them. the lab is making students buy ingredients or else they will mess up “the recipe”. they have rats in the kitchen which they make the students put traps out for and throw away the dead rodents. will make you stay longer even if nothing needs to be done. making your students have less time to eat. The principal is barely around in this big school with so much faculty. You would think we would actually have someone observing the students. we have knifes and so much heavy duty equipment in that kitchen. when a chef is mad the whole class has to feel it. when a student gets hurt in this lab the teachers aren’t around and if they are they will just tell you “pain only goes so deep”. they encourage creativity but once something is done “wrong” in the instructors eyes you will be scolded and it gets dumped in the trash making you restart. kids are having sex in the stock rooms and the “quiet room”. the kids found out first? that’s unacceptable. the academic part of the class is supposed to be educational but when your taken out into lab half the time you might not even be doing the required academics just making food for staff members as a level 2,3, and 4. and level one’s the first day you walk in there the chefs will say that they could care less if you leave or fail this program. they won’t always have the attendance book out so if your child was in school and marked absent the teacher themselves is forgetting the students. I don’t know how this kitchen inspections pass health code. the dish room just got fixed and already has black water. they have black mold that they proceed to make students scrub and clean off so if your child gets sick know if from this lab. the lunch lady’s work in the same kitchen. You will be doing strenuous work from when you get to lab till you get out. Cleaning days consist of each person getting assigned something with a partner (that may do absolutely nothing or be someone that wont even talk to you) and than you will either get an easier task but once you finish it you right away get another thing or you will get something like cleaning the entire freezer. If you come out of the freezer to take a break you will get in trouble and they will look if it’s spotless in the freezer. You will get no warning of this cleaning day so if you get the freezer lets hope you naturally bring extra clothes. The freezer tends to be around -3 degrees and all we have is a chef uniform. so frostbite is possible. this school should be shut down. it is ridiculous how it operates.
if your child is being bullied at LCTI don’t expect anyone to help. your kid will end up dead before a staff member even bothers to...
Read moreI took the adult education CNC/Precision Machine course and I can tell you 100% that if you do not already work in a manufacturing type of environment or machine shop this is not the class for you. The only successful students in the class already had at least a year of professional experience or had taken prior machine classes. Absolute waste of time and money. Also, I am not sure if the same instructor is still teaching the course so I will not post his name (he told the entire class multiple times he didn't think he wanted to teach anymore) but he had a very negative attitude that myself and at least one other student found to be very detrimental to our chances of learning. Oh and the same instructor told us that CNC training was just "bonus" if we got through the manual machine training. Point is if you want to learn CNC and you're out of high school already, don't...
Read moreI had no clear path nor desires in middle school, then I attended LCTI for 4 years during high school. It was a life changer at the least. I wasn't the best at academics but I did have a passion in computers/coding. I met an amazing teacher & also staff at the school that felt more like a family. LCTI will open so many doors that you never knew were in sight. I highly recommended LCTI to anyone that is wanting to further their education in technical, medical, construction and any of the programs they offer. If you're a good kid that focuses on yourself and not drama this school is for you, if not they won't accept you or you'll get the boot.
10/10 Life changing experiences and I would go...
