290 Maine St — Restaurant in Norway

On Saturday, July14,2018 , while walking around downtown Norway during the sidewalk art festival, the wife and I decided to have lunch we were in front of 290 main st. never having been in this pub/ restaurant we wanted to try it. we went in an a sign said please seat yourself so we did. After about 5 minutes of seating ourselves no wait staff came over to us, figuring it was real busy because of the festival they did not see us. I finally got the attention of a waiter, he sent a waitress to help us, she brought our drinks and took our meal orders. so far so good, our meals arrived and we ate, when we were about half way thru our meal I started looking for our waitress to ask for 2 more tartar sauces. I kept seeing her go outside to the tables out there. I finally got her attention and she came over, we asked for 2 tartar sauces, she said ok an off she went, well 10 minutes go by an I'm still watching her go outside she never looked over to us so I got up walked to the cash register which is near the kitchen door, a different waitress was there so I asked her for more tartar sauce, she gave me 2 which wre just inside the kitchen door. I went an sat down and we finished our meals. Just the " our" waitress finally shows up with 1 tartar sauce ( we asked for 2 ) I tod her we did not need it now, we were done eating, she then said (not knowing I got our 2 tartar sauces) sorry to take so long they had run out and had to make more up. I almost called her out for lying to my face. but just let it go.

the food was good we had the fish and chips. it was a good lunch time amount of fish, and the fried were sweet potato fries, very tasty. would we go back maybe, but will also keep my eye...

Found this place after a trip my uncle's place in Greenwood. Was gona have Pizza on the other end of Main St... Boy am I glad we took a walk down to the other end.

Food: Pub food at its finest! Pretzels and beer cheese were SPOT ON. I had the club sandwich as well. I haven't had a club sandwich like that in 15 years at a small dinner. It actually had thr 3 slices od bread! Classic pub fries came with it.

Service: Our server was friendly, attentive and professional. They were busy, but she wasn't flustered in the least.

Vibe: My partner and I love college football, and they had several games on for us to enjoy. Clearly the owers/staff are also CFB fans based on the decor.

My only regret is that we live an hour away. I'd def make this a weekly eat out spot if i was closer!

Absolutely stop here if you are a fan of a sportsbar/pub doing it right. Def...

I usually like this place. However over the past few months the food quality has dropped significantly, the drinks are poured terribly, and the attitude of the bar staff is borderline sarcastic. Never in my adult life have I experience a bartender pour my shot into a measured medicine cup and have both shots poured under and Oz and then get cut off after consuming only 1.5 oz of tequila because "iv had enough". Furthermore my last food order to go, all the chicken wings undercooked, no blue cheese, chicken wrap thrown in the container not cut. Ruben sandwich not cut and thrown into container. I also don't like the way the owner looks at me with disgust. I can't tell if it's due to my Jew religion or what but the guy scowls at me every time I walk in and makes me feel unwelcome. I don't see myself visiting this establishment...
