Amato's — Restaurant in Norway

The Amatos Italian sandwich is normally built to very high standards. Which is the reason Amatos has become my new favorite Italian sandwich shop for about 5 years now. This is about the 3rd time I’ve been disappointed in the Amatos Italian. All 3 were from their Italian sandwich being weakly made like this. This being the second from here at this location not of those high standards. That being said the staff is always polite, friendly and working hard. ( not always easy to find especially these days and the reason it’s not one star) I’ll let the picture do more of the talking. Looks like more training is needed from owner or manager to keep up the proud high standards of the Amatos Italian sandwich. Especially when these are the most expensive Italian sandwich’s in the area. I don’t mind paying a little more for the quality I normally receive from an Amatos establishment. Staff is excellent! Staff is friendly and helpful! The reason for 2 stars is, I grew up by the first amatos there was. And the quality of Italian sandwich is not even close to the original I grew up with. Obviously it must be due to supply issues or salary issues, but the cut back of ingredients, makes it not an original Italian. I would pay a dollar or more if the sandwich represented a real italian! They used to take pride in their sandwich making, but not any more. I keep going back, because of the Italians I had as a young person were so good and satisfying, that should tell you to go back to your roots and make Italians they way they are suppose to be made out of pride and for repeat business. Sadly I won't go here any more for my Italians unless they can make an original real Italian, not a cheap, lack of ingredient money saving knock off. Hoping for improvement, love myself an original Amatos...

I was extremely disappointed that none of the 6 workers had masks on in this small area since I'm pretty sure it's required during this pandemic, no other customers did either and they had at least 6 when I got there with nothing marked off for social distancing. I always have gone there but will rethink that now. I waited almost 20 minutes for 3 sandwiches to be made while others came and went....haven't eaten sandwiches so my rating is based on disappointment in their management in not following state requirements. UPDATE: Ate sandwiches they were great, but on the news tonight they again said Maine businesses can only reopen with employees wearing masks. So won't go back...
