First time eating here after receiving a recommendation from a friend that the food was tasty. We were headed to the Chinese restaurant on Grant Avenue, so we changed our plans to try it out. We're very pleased with the quality of the food, HOWEVER, I am rating it a 2 because the service was the worst restaurant service ever!!!! They seated us with no menus, water, or tea (never offered tea at all, but gave to other guests) for 15 minutes. We asked 2 times, and then finally we were dropped menus on the table, and the server left. Did not say welcome to China Palace or anything. It took another 15 minutes before the server came back to take our order. The man was not friendly at all. Once the food arrived, we had to ask 2 times for the chow mein because it never came, and then finally, it showed up toward the end of our meal. My elderly mother asked for water 3 separate times from 3 different servers because they would not refill her or our water glasses from the first fill. It was apparently more important to set a table across the way than to give water to the guests who were thirsty from the food. My son also asked for water 2 times and then began to drink mine since they ignored him as well. It's too bad the service royally sucked because the food was super tasty. It's obvious they don't care about customer service or a wonderful dining experience, which will cost them customers returning to their establishment. If you want great customer service go to the Chinese restaurant on Grant Avenue where the food is still tasty and the servers are friendly and attentive to make sure your experience is wonderful so that you WILL come back. It's too bad this place was not like that because I and my extended family members would have put this as our top choice for Chinese food. We all agreed it was the worst service ever received. Also, I never even got the chance to ask if they use MSG in their food because the man seemed annoyed if you asked questions. It almost tasted like so, though. I should be granting them 1 star, but I gave 2 because I like the food a lot. Just can't bring myself back to be starved of water and kindness from the employees that work there. So my suggestion to all if you want a wonderful experience is to go eat somewhere else where you are appreciated as a customer. And oh yes, we had to flag someone down to let us leave because they knew we were done and finally took our plates, yet refused to bring the check for us to pay, as we waited patiently. My elderly step-dad made the comment,"I bet we could get up and leave, and they STILL would not notice that we were gone since they hardly acknowledged our presence since we got here." That was rich coming from him because he would never ever evade a bill, and he was very upset with the way we were treated...

We had ask the man in the front working if we can have THREE Sauces because we purchased THREE plates. The man gave us TWO and stated we had to play 1$ For another hot sauce. after reminding the man that we purchased THREE Plates , he ignored us completely and walked to the back of the restaurant. Read moreThis place is great. Sweet people, really good food, nice environment. I was there in Christmas and they were SWAMPED! But they remained calm, even and kind. The cashier hostess had so much poise and composure even as many Hangry people await their turn. We didn't mind the wait at all since we were so happy to find an open restaurant. The food was really hot, fresh and yummy. They missed half our order (we were a very large party), but when they realized, got to it in short order and with big apologies and smiles and even delivered it. They will be our new go to for a friendly neighborhood...
