Vilardo's is set inside a big old house on the corner of a neighborhood in Nutley that shouts America at every turn. You wish you could live here just so you'd be closer to this place. All around the store, besides a big selection of chips and soda, are goodies from Italy: pastas, spicy peppers, tomatoes for making "gravy", cookies, honey and candies. The big jar of Locatelli sits right on top of the cheese case! I had to get an Italian Sandwich of Proscuitto, Sopressatta, Capicola and Fresh Mozzarella with peppers, basil, arugula, oil and vinegar(ask for a little extra) on a freshly baked ciabatta style roll. They wrapped it up in brown paper and then put a piece of tape to hold it together like an old time butcher would do. In the South we judge BBQ by how far you would drive to eat there. This place is a 50 mile deli for sure! As I was walking in I saw another customer, being new I ask about the way in and his comment was, "you'll love it, delicious!" Read moreNestled in a beautiful suburban corner inside a repurposed home, Vilardos is a joy to visit. We were immediately greeted with similes and a welcome. Asked if it was our first time visiting and everyone behind the counter offered their advice on what to get. It was a jersey strong family vibe. I’m here for it.
We ended up getting their special: chicken cutlet with burrata, tomato, arugula, and balsamic vinaigrette spread. It was incredible . You could taste each individual ingredient in every bite. It all tasted fresh and had great contrasts of textures. It was delicious. Would definitely get again.
Inside the place was big with wood paneling decor. They had a number of tables in the back and parking.
Highly recommend a visit if in the mood...

No thank you. No warmness. Nothing. Ok fine but then there was another woman that couldn’t decide what she wanted and he very rudely just ignored me despite her telling him several times she needed a few minutes and kept insisting to take her before me which he knew I was just a pickup order since I mentioned it. Customer service with a smile seems to be lost on this place. Maybe it was just an off day, but I won’t go back...
