Staff helpful and friendly, the girl at the counter was really nice, she was helping train one of the new guys, which is thought was good.
Food
Ordered the three taco plate, the tacos are kind of small, I'm not sure if that is standard or not, but it's full of meat though. Not the best.
The wet burrito carne asada was just so-so. The meat was a bit on the tough side, but cut smaller which is better than the places that have them in big chunks or strips. The rice tasted like uncle Ben's type of preseasoned rice. Flavor overall is ok. Not sure if we would order this type again, maybe a chicken burrito.
The beef burrito is also so-so, the flavors aren't a wow factor, and it falls apart kind of easy, maybe it needs to be wrapped tighter. But on the positive side, they are packed full of different ingredients.
The chicken quesadilla which we order basically plain , was really good. There was plenty of cheese, the shredded chicken was great.
The chips are on the thicker side and a tiny bit stale. And the salsa is kind of tomato saucey...
Overall, I'd probably not come back here anytime soon, maybe once more to try it when they're not closer to closing, and it was very busy.
So one more try and maybe I'll...
Read moreI've been to all three of Alejandro's Mexican food joints, and I've gotta be honest, the one at Pearl-Ridge, Hawaii didn't impress me. While the employees were friendly, the food itself was a letdown. It lacked any real flavor – it was like eating a plain sandwich. The beans and rice were boring, and I suspect they used canned beans instead of cooking them fresh.
The prices were way too steep for what you got. I felt like I was shelling out too much money for food that didn't even taste good. And hey, California, don't expect to find what you're used to in Mexican food here.
Asian visitors might enjoy it, but that could be because they haven't experienced really good Mexican food. The flavors were off, and the sauce on the wet burrito? Yeah, it tasted like it came straight from a can.
I should mention, though, that the employees were nice, which was a silver lining. But when it comes to the food, it's a thumbs down. After trying the other two locations – and honestly, the Kapahulu one was the weakest link – I expected better. But sadly, this place fell short in a big way. If you're hoping for a satisfying Mexican meal, I'd suggest you...
Read moreFirst the good: Service was very fast. I made an online order (I live in Aiea), then immediately drove to Alejandros at the Pearl City Shopping Center (old Ezogiku location). When I arrived, my order was ready. The online ordering system does not allow for a pickup time. That should be improved. The beans and rice in the burrito plate did not have much taste, but the carnitas burrito was pretty good. The asada tacos were disappointing. The steak was dry and rather tough. However, I liked the carnitas taco. The carnitas was moist and flavorful. Overall, a mixed bag. Fast ordering that needs to allow you to specify your pickup time. Stay away from the steak, beans and rice. The carnitas are pretty good.
Edit: Upon further review, I'm lowering my rating from 3 to 2 stars for the following reasons: My 3 taco plate was supposed to come with a soft drink. I didn't get one. I ordered the carnitas burrito without onions, but the burrito was full of onions.
Attention to detail was...
