Daiichi Ramen - Kailua — Restaurant in Oʻahu

During our vacation we came here for lunch. My friends had ramen, and I had udon. About the ramen — it was quite salty, even too salty, but still somewhat tasty. My shrimp udon… I can’t say I really liked it. At the same time, it was okay, but probably something I wouldn’t order again. Most likely, we won’t be coming back to this place. What completely spoiled our impression was the smell. There was a very strange odor in the restaurant — it was there from the beginning and only got stronger. Great portions, the servers are awesome for not being too clingy or crowding you every few seconds they do their job and they're quick. The food comes out pretty fast even when it's busy . The only reason I have a hard time coming back as often as I used to is because they're terribly unclean. Don't watch them prep your food through the little window. The cooks and the staff don't wear gloves between touching money, handling dirty dishes, utensils, or anything . The cooks don't wear gloves in the back and you see them do some normal human stuff like touch their face or pick at stuff or whatever but then they don't wash their hands when they go back to handling food . Disappointed with the service. We said please and thank you to everything we asked for and we were cut off with short, irritated sounding one word answers as the waitress walked away. We weren’t even halfway finished with our food when we were given the check. She brought to go boxes and just dropped them on the table while we were still eating… we didn’t know if we even needed boxes yet because we weren’t finished eating. I tip based on service and even though the food was decent, I tipped under 18% (I tipped 16%). The waitress grabbed the check, looked at it, looked at me, and sneered!
