Raised by The Waves is one of the few vegan restaurants outside of Honolulu and Hale'iwa on O'ahu. (though do note, fellow vegans: they sell honey. not sure if they include it in their recipes or in which ones).
We arrived close to closing at 5, apparently too late to order food. They close the kitchen down it seems about 4:30 - 4:45 despite being open hours-wise later than that. That's restaurants on Hawaii time though!
I was able to order a drink and got the Oreo milkshake, which was delicious and definitely tasted like more than just coconut and Oreos. I would order it again, if only I could also get food. I am sure it's even better than their drinks.
Service was relatively prompt and everyone was friendly. Great spot located around the sugar mill. Be aware this one is off to the side in the back sort of, and harder to find than some of the other...
Read moreReally happy to get some delicious vegan food. This place had amazing ratings and I can definitely see why. I got the aloha bowl and I was able to get it without mushrooms or cilantro because I hate both of those things. The bowl was delicious and freshly prepared right there. My mom got the spicy vegan poke and I tried a bite of it. Also delicious and definitely had a kick to it. Definitely would recommend getting that plate. We got the vegan machos to share and I asked if they could put the cilantro on the side so my mom could still have it if she wanted some. They did that exactly how I imagined it. The nachos were amazing. I couldn't stop eating them. and that vegan "cheese" was the best! To drink we got rainbow tea. It was so yummy. Everything I ate here was so delicious and it felt so good for the body. I definitely recommend this place...
Read moreUsually it is a 10/10 for me. However today, I ordered my usual vitamin sea bowl (açaí bowl)
I noticed when I grabbed it at the window that had like half the bottom empty. I asked if it was meant to be that way and I got the response of it was too frozen to pack it in. Ok. Understandable. However, I left and noticed I got no blueberries which are supposed to come with it… I asked for less granola and literally got maybe a sprinkle. I get that I came at 4 and they close at 5, however if you don’t have something or something is different, you should disclose it to the costumer and see if they still want to pay full price or if there is something else you can do. Super disappointed with it today. Especially because when we do come, we drive 45 minutes just because we do...
