Buddy invited me to meet up for breakfast and came for my first visit. Breakfast was pretty standard fare with several varieties of omelettes, pancakes and waffles, as well as a combo of 2 eggs and meat with a carb side. I ordered the everything omelette with house potatoes as the side.

Flavor wise, this omelette tasted better than the omelettes from Kaneohe Pancake House but is smaller since this was a 2 egg omelette. But on the other hand, the potatoes are more flavorful at Kaneohe Pancake House. Will definitely be coming back to try out their fried rice since that seems to be the most popular.

Ample parking and not too crowded. There were 2 servers on hand, and the food delivery was pretty quick, as were coffee refills. However, for some reason, water refill was very slow.

Atmosphere reminded me of old school 70s style diner with a lot of Hawaiian prints and art on the walls.

Lastly, they do provide a physical menu and you don't need to scan a QR code to look at the menu. I say this because owner/management at Brick Oven Pizza in Kapolei thinks it is common for restaurants not to provide physical menus when in fact, Brick Oven Pizza is the only place I have visited in the last 90 days that did not provide a...

A True Taste of the Windward Side If you're a tourist looking for a genuine local diner experience, or a Windward resident craving great food, great prices, and warm island hospitality, look no further than Times Coffee Shop.

The place has a cool vibe, thanks to the Fijian/Chinese owners. You'll see all sorts of interesting Fiji wooden masks and axes mixed in with retro Hawaiian posters. It really gives the place a unique, homey feel. This was my second visit, and I decided to try the corned beef because I heard they make it in-house. While I wanted to love it, as someone who grew up on the canned stuff, this version just wasn't for me. It was a little bland and didn't have that classic corned beef hash flavor I was hoping for.

But the rest of the plate more than made up for it! The salad was so fresh, the toast was grilled to perfection, and the home fries were perfectly crisped. The sunny-side-up egg was also cooked just right. It was a delicious meal overall.

Next time, I'm definitely getting the French toast, bacon, and eggs. I saw a plate go by and it looked absolutely amazing. I can't...

When 4.5 Stars Feels Like 2… Being Generous

If you’re in the area looking for breakfast and thinking, “Hey, Times Coffee Shop has a 4.5-star rating, it must be good!” — do yourself a favor and keep looking.

The bathroom alone deserved its own horror movie — mold everywhere, like it was auditioning for a Swamp Thing reboot.

We ordered a scramble with fried rice and banana blueberry pancakes, which sounded great and hard to screw up, but somehow tasted like regret and cafeteria sadness.

Two simple requests for our waitress? Ghosted — forgotten like last year’s New Year’s resolutions.

At $50, you’d think we were getting a meal cooked by someone who at least likes food, but nope — it was a masterclass in disappointment. We left not satisfied, but resentfully full, like we had just been force-fed mediocrity.

Giving it two stars because (1) the chairs had four legs and (2) we didn’t get food poisoning… but it felt like...
