10/07/23; Went in for my Birthday dinner , it was as good or better than last time here, it was simply delicious everything from egg drop soup, spring rolls. To Mongolian chicken, rice and plates full of vegetables cooked perfectly with crunch in every bite. And great flavor and a bit heat but great. Again. I'm saying great food, if your hungry.
Previous meal Been trying and looking around Ofallon area for Asian food resturant with GOOD food, with great flavor, great taste and enjoyable to relax and really enjoy your meal, it's been a really challenge. So many are closed, so many have no taste food, not friendly well we have now stopped looking findingthe Asian Cafe & Grill. Walk in and you are greeted, seated, waitress appears get your drinks and menus. Ask waitress questions about meals gives answers to all. If you like Mongolian Beef what a delicious thing you awaits you, choice of rice, steamed or fried. Choice of soup. Also excellent taste, not long your meal is their and it is the best tasting, meat so tender it almost melts in your month. They do have wine and alcohol license for drinks, or sodas. The waitress we had was very nice, polite and knowledgable. They have lunch menus and dinner and I'm sure all is just Great, in a little strip mall just past walgreens at Mexico on Bryan Rd. Read moreMy husband picked up food from here for my family. It was the first and last time we'll eat here. When he pulled up both the parking lot and the restaurant were very dark. He wasn't sure they were open until he got right up to the door. They did do a good job with getting our food ready in a timely fashion and they were friendly. However, the food was not the best. I don't know why they have such a good rating. The egg drop soup, should be called egg drop jello... it was gross. The color was bright yellow nearly orange and the consistency was claggey, clumpy, goopy, and more like jello. Despite its appearance we all still tried it and the taste was terrible too. It simply wasn't edible and very expensive for how much they gave you. The container in the picture was full when we got it but it was barley enough for 2 adults and 2 kids after it was dished up. I posted the picture of the container to give reference as to the size for the price. $11 for gross "soup" goop down the drain, and straight in the trash. The orange chicken had good flavor, but some of it was way overcooked. So overcooked that it was tougher than jerky and I couldn't eat it. The other food we ordered was okay, but nothing to write home about. We won't...
Read moreSadly, my first visit here didn't live up to expectations. Years ago, I believe we had goi cuon catered from here that everyone raved over. They have high star reviews but I unfortunately didn't notice lack of Vietnamese reviewers and the few recent ones aren't great. They seem to do well with target group of local patrons but I doubt anyone from Vietnam will be impressed here. I've been here just once so possibly an off-scenario but nobody at our table seemed too impressed with their food. A couple had pho they said wasn't bad but portions were small. Fresh lemon/limeade - 3/5 good flavor but too sour Pork/shrimp spring rolls - 2/5 pretty average, bit lacking - needs crunch & more herbs, and noodles were COLD (as in refrigerated, below room temperature) Hu tieu dac biet - 2/5 thicker noodles than I like (not the standard thinner ones that have better bite to it), broth lacked flavor, & meat is dry.
I'm not likely coming back. It's a drive out of the...
